Volker Vyskocil - Animation of Functions

Hi all,

Volker was good enough to share an animation he's made with us that not only illustrates the functions of his hand setting mechanism, but allows you to wind up the watch and see the movement of the up/down indicator, plus the animation shows the correct time according to your computer. Very cool!

The link for the animation is HERE and for some background info HERE is a recent thread about Volker's watch (look within the thread for a link to download his online brochure).

And, for those attending or thinking of attending the Tempus/IGOTT event (August 25-29), you will be able to see Volker's work upclose and personal, as he will be in attendance. Volker will also be giving a presentation, including 3D animation, of his work during IGOTT.

Thanks Volker!

Cheers,

Curtis

It makes it much easier to understand. This is going to be a very cool watch when it's ready. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the dial design. The rest is scrumptious

Except for the dial layout, it is a fine watch (nt)

One question >>

As it said, the the power reserve indication also is an indication for the crown functions (S/M/H), then it may have a little trouble: if the power reserve is less than 20 hours, the indicator hand will give a wrong information where the crown is, because the switching ring is engaged to the power-reserve cam so it can not be reset to the right position. Am I thinking correctly?

Dear Charles,

Yes its true.

If the power reserve is less than 20 hours (or the watch is running for more than 20h since last winding), the 3t position of the crown will not be indicated.
And if the watch run more than 30h after last winding the third and the second position will not be indicated.
It is correct when you say that the indicator can always go down, never up, to show the crown position.
But normally you wind up the watch every 24h and normaly you wind up the watch in the morning. So if you awake the next 20h all settingoperations are shown by the powereserve indicator.
And if you set the watch when it is run for more than 20h, the mechanism don't go into a failure.
When the mechanism will be enabled to make up movements (to show the crown position), the mechanical complexity will be rise disproportional.

Regards,

Volker

Where else do you have direct access to today's leading watchmakers? Thank you so much for taking the time to answer questions Volker. Good luck with your new watch, it's looking great! I hope to meet you at the Singapore event.

I was not crazy about the dial eother at first, however the more I look at it - and play with the hands - the more it grows on me.
