Response to I am thinking about an AP Equation of Time. I have a few questions if you

and I hope some of them will chime in.

I am rather intimately familiar with the model, and think it is one of the most beautiful high complications ever made.

I'll answer your questions one by one, but I really hope others will share their opinions and experiences as well -

1. I live in Portland, Oregon and am wondering if I need to purchase the watch from AP directly or can the retailer send it to AP for the correct bezel and cams?

You can order the watch from an authorized dealer, who will order the piece with the correct cam and bezel for you. The last I looked, Portland is not one of the standard city choices, so it might need to be custom made.

Your question also implies another way your local bezel and cam can be acquired - by having an existing piece converted. Since the cam and bezel will likely have to be custom made anyway, there probably is not benefit to having it done this way, as opposed to having it made right from scratch for your location.

2. How long does it take (approximately) for AP to create the watch for my location?

Obviously, for standard cities, it just depends on production schedules. If a particular city is not in stock, but is a standard city, the wait was about 6 to 8 months as of 3q last year.

For a custom city/location, it might take this long or most likely longer...best to check with your preferred authorized dealer to get most up to date lead times; email me if you have any problems.

3. What is the retail price for the Equation of Time in Rose Gold?

The current list price is $58,900

4. Which of the 3 (Yellow, Rose or White gold) do you feel is more legible?

The yg is the most legible, but my least favorite. I personally find the rg very easy to read as well, but many others don't. As this shows, legibility is subjective.

5. Are the sunrise and sunset indications just approximations or are they fairly accurate?

I have found them to be accurate to about 5 minutes, certainly close enough to plan ones location to see a brilliant sunset or sunrise. But note that they are calibrated for sea level, at the particular latitude and longitude...

Regards, and I am looking forward to other personal comments and experiences!
