Congratulations to Audemars Piguet on the First Year Anniversary of the Taipei 101 Boutique! To celebrate this occasion, the boutique hosted a special event "The Art of Complications" with ThePuristS and Dr. Thomas Mao.
Upon arrival to Taipei 101 guests were welcomed with banners commemorating the anniversary:
The Boutique was decorated with large scale ROO LE's that are being delivered this weekend:

"The Art of Complications" with a presentation by Dr. Thomas Mao:
Hey Ed!!! Thanks so much for sharing such a great post. It must've been quite an experience being there. The Taipei 101 LE also looks pretty cool. Thanks again for the post.
You have no idea how much I wanted to be on this trip but alas schedules etc. didnot permit that, well I'm not surprised since all the nice and respectable Purists are on this trip therefore no chance of you guys getting into trouble LooooL
I think the coolest thing about this tower is the elevator system. The Taipei 101 uses special pressurized elevators and travel at speeds of 60 km/hr. These are the most comfortable elevators I've experienced in a tall building.
Any Idea if the 101 is still available? BTW, what is the retail price on this watch? Any discount from retail you think? Thanks. I just saw this watch in a magazine and it's awesome.
It was so great meeting you and many of the other PuristS in person! Thank you and Roger for hosting the wonderful dinner atop the landmark Taipei 101. The views were spectacular, food delicious, and above all the friendship!
I do hope you enjoyed the super cool toys that our special guest brought with him and that you get your 'zen' piece soon!
it was really nice meeting you and Ed, and I really hope that you're having a great time during your stay in Taiwan. Please let me know if you have plans to come back anytime soon.
yes & yes, it was fun and the zen piece really leaves an lasting impression. i m already fantasizing how i would have mine executed, for example, apply Sanskrit instead of Roman numerals to make it even more mystical:p
Too bad work kept me from attending the presentation. Going back today to play with the big guns (somehow i was told by the boutique the watches were whisked away after the presentation).

One very lucky AP enthusiast will have the honor of taking delivery of piece #1 of 101. Special thanks to the AP Taipei 101 Boutique staff (especially Rae, Peggie and Wendy!) for allowing ThePuristS exclusive viewing of this piece:
All the credit really deserves to be given to the wonderful AP staff in Taipei. I want to thank again Ms. Rae W, Ms. Peggie S, and Ms. Wendy H (and all the beautiful ladies at the Taipei 101 boutique) for showing us such warm hospitality, friendliness and professionalism during our visit.
as it was really nice meeting you and Ming, and of course seeing Thomas again after such a long time. I hope you're having a great time in Taiwan, and if you have plans to come again anytime soon please be sure to let me know. Look forward to your other photos and videos!!
Thanks for all the videos, Ed! You know how I love when we have A/V material embedded on the site! Your photos and video of the new limited edition AP ROO are also fantastic. Looks like you fellas had a fun trip!
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding.... ding dong, ding dong... The JA Grand Complication :)

One of the pieces featured in Dr. Mao's presentation was a Jules Audemars Grand Complication. I took three videos at different angles to try to capture the hammers striking the gongs:
Special thanks to Ms. Wendy H of the Audemars Piguet Taipei 101 Boutique for allowing us to post these pics of the Taipei 101 LE with a white horn-back strap and blue stitching.
