And it demonstrates my favorite thing about the watch ...

... the full balance wheel bridge rather than the more common cock. Functionally it may have minimal benefit, but I like the solidity and symmetry of the design.

Great piece. And time will confirm if the 4101 is a modern classic. wink.gif

Not a bad ride either.

Between the two I would say you had a perfect day.

Enjoy.

The 1st gen. Starwheel is...

...one of my favorite pieces from the AP patrimony! It somehow seems to fill this design space that is both audacious and classical. What a beauty.

A great masthead photo, for sure!

Cheers,
Daos

OMG!

June 1 2012, 4:59 PM

I don't think I have ever seen the watch ow featured on the masthead, and I nearly fell off my chair. A tourbillon, chronograph minute repeater...correct? And so beautiful! That is an amazing AP. I would love to know more about this one...please!

Best,
respo

Triple Comp - yep, you are right.

June 1 2012, 7:42 PM

Hi, Respo,

That was a modern interpretation of the classic "triple complication" which was AP's highest complication before the grand comp. In fact, many people confuse the triple comp with a grand comp (though the definition of both are still debated and often used less than rigourously.)

I'll try to come back with more info / details.

Cheers, and thanks for checking in!
