I saw 2 beautiful vintage VCs on some Japanese dealer sites but after looking aesthetically, those 2 look exactly the same but they have 2 different references and they are 4870 & 6378. Does anyone know the difference? Thanks!

They are really "look a like",

but not exactly the same.
The lugs are straighter on the ref. 6378,
which is a later version(?), and from mid 60s.
It has caliber K 1071, wellknown automatic.
Versions with and without date.

Ref. 4870 is the older one,
initially with cal. P 499,
later with, I believe cal. 1019..
Automatic also, but I haven't seen any with date..
I believe it came in the beginning of the 50s.
I also think the indexes are a little bit different.

Have a look at Antiquorum,
I know that there are examples.
Both are quite common.

Here Bill can correct me a lot,
I'm afraid, but it's something anyhow Rei

You're pretty thorough, Doc....

I don't have anything to add, except perhaps that a proper nut for all things VC should have one of each reference. Come on Rei...get both!

Sadly, both of these items are already sold when I came across them.
