Nerdish Contemporaine question

On the dial of the Patek 5196 (and likely other PPs) the markers are riveted (I think that's the word) into the dial - instead of glued on/to the dial.

Evidently this is the most durable solution in a long time perspective.

I wonder how the long narrow markers on superb the Contemporaine are fixed to the dial, and I'd very much appreciate any information on this subject.

I know this is a microscopic subject - however it may tell a little about the similarity or difference in approaching quality by those two competing manufacturers.

Many thanks in advance,

Sven

the applied markers (like in all VCs) are in fact set into the dial via holes drilled in the latter.

Can I ask one more question, please?

November 28 2006, 2:30 PM

Is there a deployant clasp for the Contemporaine, and do you have a photo of it?

I know this is trivial, and I kind of like the half-cross buckle, but a clasp is very practical, so ...

Sorry for being so ignorant on VCs.

Thanks in advance

The Contemporaine manual and automatic are delivered with a

tang buckle however you can order a double folding VC clasp if you wish.

I don't have a photo but they are bringing out a slightly moodified deployant and I'll post scans here very soon.

Very kind of you - it will be interesting to see the clasp. The buckle is beautiful, but a clasp is practical, so if it's equally beautiful ...
