Opening of the first Swiss GIRARD-PERREGAUX boutique in Gstaad

GIRARD-PERREGAUX does adds a new representative place; a new boutique and flagship store opened in the well-known Gstaad in the Swiss Alps.

Gstaad Saanenland is located in the Southwest of Switzerland, right on the border of the French-speaking area. The region can be easily reached by train or by car from the Thunersee (Lake of Thun) area or from the Lake of Geneva area and also from the region of Guyere.

The pittoresque region is a famous ski ressort and a coveted centre of tourism, widely known for excellence in all aspects.
And that is for sure the right place for a GP Boutique!

GP´s press release (full text with additional informations) may give an idea how meticulously the preparation for the grand opening was:

"Donald Judd's retrospective exhibition made a deep
impression on me. The simple, geometric forms of his
work represent the quintessence of minimalism.
I recommended the exhibition to the architect Mr
Baciocchi, who lives and works in Arezzo, Tuscany,
and has done interior design work on some
interesting and important commercial premises and,
amongst other things, the Italian Pavilion at the
    Venice Biennial.

The Donald Judd exhibition inspired Mr Baciocchi with
the idea of presenting a modern concept enriched
    with details from classical architecture.
The materials used are contemporary: titanium, for
example, which is highly technical but at the same time
so alive in its multifaceted reflection of light, and
wenge wood, used in an unusually light tone that
    enhances the grain.

The colours are sober and warm; the lines, pure and
    devoid of all decorative excess.
Considerable research has gone into the lighting, and
the furniture is inspired by the pieces Mies van der
Rohe designed for the German Pavilion at the
International Fair in Barcelona in 1929, with the
armchairs upholstered in dark green leather. At the
same time, the steel surfaces have been brushed
rather than chromium-plated, giving them an opaque
    appearance.

    Every detail has been
    meticulously studied, and
    every element designed
    accordingly: the graceful
    door handle, for example, is
    made from horn like
    traditional Tuscan knives.

Nothing has been left to chance. Every element has
been carefully considered and personalised, just like
    a Girard-Perregaux timepiece."
