A big thank you to GP for a wonderful afternoon tea!

As always I would like a say a huge thank you for the invite to such an exclusive event held here in Singapore.

First of all I would like to say thanks to GP and Mr Dimitri Aubert for his time and our little peek into the world of GP.( Hey Dimitri we will go skiing in Switzerland when I am there yah?)
Also a big thank you to the Benjamins for hosting the party at their gorgeous house.

I think some of us guys here in Singapore are really spoilt when it comes to events like these but then again the enthusiasm that you see in the people you meet in these gatherings justifies all the pampering that we get no?

Once again also to thank Jaw for all his efforts-love the three bridges, the finishing is wonderful!

Its nice to be home again but it is even better in the company of fellow watch lovers!

What an ejnoyable and informative afternoon..

February 8 2004, 5:34 PM

The atmosphere was relaxed and great even without the amazing presentation which I will talk about in one to two weeks time (I kindly request those present not to disclose anything in public till then).

An amazing effort put in by Dimitri Aubert, Nash Benjamin, Dominic Khoo, Cheryl Wee and of course my dear old friend Sam Benjamin and his family! What a stupendous privilege extended to us PuristS by the GP Switzerland and BMI!

We met at a relaxed atmosphere, had a great presentation, re-group for food and honestly, I didn't feel like leaving the place at all

Just as a teaser, here is just a photo of the presentation:

(An amazing privileged presentation to The PuristS!)

It was strictly for fun...

February 8 2004, 7:47 PM

To add the fun factor, we decided to award the BEST Casual Dresser and the MOST casual dresser. Being in the luxury business distributing multi brands in Singapore. Sam had no problem coming out with prizes for both male &/or female.

None of us took it seriously and the verdict was reached by informal consultations between 2 gentlemen and a wonderful lady. We certainly enjoyed the thinking process.

(The best casual dresser, strictly a beach wear, but I guess that is sufficiently CASUAL for the 3 judges. Suven Young won the Best Casual dresser prize...she gets to choose an item from the exquisite La Perla Boutique)

I must say that, in my opinion, one beautiful lady nearly won the prizes for both categories but missed out both prizes by the thinnest margin. Anyway, it was strictly for fun and none of us took it seriously

(There were many casual dresser, but Soong Tuck Yin won for the impression given by being the most casual...Soong won a very high quality Raoul Shirt and Tie, a very successful and upcoming men fashion brand in the region )

Remember, we did it for fun, and it was FUN! in my opinion.

(This beautiful lady nearly won both prizes but missed by a hairline for both categories. Notice the fine details of loose (intentional) threads. they impressed me a gret deal. She was both casual and well dressed)

February 8 2004, 9:42 PM

Oh my, how i wish i could have been there with you!
And only if it were for the opportunity to wear shorts instead of boots and winter jackets over here, with lots of snow coming down yesterday.

My sincere thanks to Dimitri and Sam Benjamin as well as Jaw - iīm very curious whatīs ahead of us, but iīm very confident itīs about beautiful watches!

A big thank you to GP

February 8 2004, 11:54 PM

for a truly enjoyable afternoon. The event stood out for its informality, in terms of dress code and the opportunity to exchange watch talk with everyone.

Great fun, and a big thank you to Dmitri, Sam, Cheryl and Dominic. And of course to Jaw as well.

And wasn't the parting gift just wonderful?

Looking forward to more reports when Jaw finally gets the go-ahead.

Regards

Sue

A wonderful afternoon, thanks to GP.....

February 9 2004, 2:05 AM

I believe all of us present on the wonderful Sunday afternoon will agree it was a great afternoon, and I especially like the idea of the "extremely" casual dress code.

Many thanks to the Benjamin family, especially Nash and Sam for their generous hospitality in their gorgeous house, thanks to Dimitri for his interesting presentation and preview, thanks to Dominic and Cheryl for the effort in bring this event a hugh success and last but not least, thanks to Jaw for bringing the Purists yet another marvelous event.

Surprises on a lovely Sunday afternoon

February 9 2004, 4:32 AM

It was a really pleasant surprise to meet Sam Benjamin. I first saw him a few months ago in The Hour Glass at Scotts. Bernard, Sue and I were looking at Breguet when in came this guy with twinkling eyes and a really disarming smile, lugging a big briefcase. He plonked the briefcase onto the counter and proceeded to show off a striking red Ferrari no 1. I remember thinking this is a really enthusiastic salesman! Sorry Sam for the mistaken impression but as of yesterday , I am really impressed by your humility and your passion for the brand.
Probably due to the low key marketing (and my ignorance), GP has never really left much of a impression on me. I look forward to learning more about this brand as Sam intends to educate and increase our appreciation for GP in the coming year. I am sure Dominic (Three Lucky Goats)will also work very hard towards this goal. Good luck and I must say what Dimitri reveals yesterday promises an exciting year ahead for GP.
Thanks Jaw for organising the get-together.

And speech from the winner.....

February 9 2004, 6:34 AM

.....of the Most Casual Dresser award.

I would like to thank my wife, Sue, for urging me to finish my urgent report for my presentation on Monday, so that we can head off to the secret location, and tempting me that there's lots of goodies (ala food) in store. Best of all, Jaw's message to be as casual as you can get suited me perfectly. Hence, the winning combo - T-shirt, bermudas and sandals. A little secret here, I am normally dressed like this on weekends anyway.

I would like to thank Jaw, his efforts and energy is second to none when it comes to getting purists together. I really appreciate your efforts. When it comes to watches, everything else seems secondary, including that urgent report.

Thanks and kudos to Sam, Nash and your young team in Cheryl and Dominic. All of you showed what good hosts you are and everyone obviously was very relaxed. We should have had some white wine to accompanying the evening. We know there's always a next time.

Special thanks to that lady and two gentlemen who voted for me, I am touched. Next time I know I will win hands down when I come dressed in my Liverpool jersey. Well, at least I know there will be a vote from Sam. You Never Walk Alone!

Last but not least to Dimitri, who shared your thoughts and the direction of GP over the next 12 months. Nothing more said here given strict instructions from Jaw. Dimitri - I will definitely take up your offer the next time I am in your part of the world on a buisness trip.

Cheers
Tuck

PS Not forgetting greetings to Suven, the Best Casual Dresser. Next function, as you promised, we will see you in your LP wear.

Thanks BMI/GP for the tea party

February 9 2004, 7:52 PM

A big thank you to the Sam, Dimitri and their team as well as Dominic and Jaw for making this event possible and enjoyable. I really liked the casual theme. And the 2 winners of the best dressed contest were totally deserving! I'm impressed with the new GP models especially the range of womens' watches. I will be looking forward to see the watches in person.
