Last year I was in a jewelry-store in the Bellagio-hotel in Las Vegas, where I saw the 'ww.tc' for the first time. I already owned a Glashuette Senator chonograph, but with my rather large wrist I have been looking for a larger watch and the 'ww.tc' looked perfect. This year I looked at the watch in Antwerp, but back in Vegas I got such a good deal (the euro is pretty strong at the moment) that I just had to buy it. I bought it in pink gold with a black leather strap and the creamy dial. At home I looked at it more carefully, and I saw that the hand of the chonograph is not perfct in line with the top of the dial. Can that be helped ?
Thanks for this quick respons, but could you give me the adress in the Netherlands, because that's where I live.
Antwerp is my movie-city where I like to watch-shop.
And nice to see the "dutch fraction" of GP enthusiasts is increasing (Mark aka MdV is a regular here)!
Since it is not that far away:
Until Saturday, July 24, there´s a unique chance to see some of GP´s most exciting Haute Horlogerie pieces and a variety of other, sometimes very limited, watches in Cologne/Germany. Click here for more input; i´d be happy to see you there (particularly as there´s a meeting on Saturday)!
This is truly a terrific timepiece. I've had the pleasure of owning the exact same model for over a year now and love it. Its massive, beautifully hued RG case is sensational, making quite a nice statement upon the wrist. The quality of the movement, the practical use of its functions, coupled with the overall fit and finish, make this one of my favorite world times.
I am sure that you will come to love it even more as time goes by. The misalignment of the chrono second is, as Peter mentioned, a minor issue that can be easily resolved.
Continued enjoyment, and wear it in good health.
As an aside, as a frequent guest at the Bellagio, I am most familiar with the store in the lobby which you refer to. Always a pleasure to return from there with something besides markers.
I didn't buy the watch at that store, because they wouln'd play with the price. A little store at the Forum shops was more eager and together with the strong euro, I got a sweet deal. As for the gambling, the moment I decided to buy the 'ww.tc' I stopped playing, because I needed every dollar.
Congrats with your ww.tc ! I have seen this beauty several times and was amazed by its looks: it makes a real statement ! regarding the problem: you've seen the replies, not a real problem.
Enjoy your watch and this forum, goed om een fellow dutchman hier te hebben !
It's definately a watch you won't see on every wrist and the best thing about it is that it's not that flashy, so nobody can really tell that it is an expensive piece.
I work in the video-industry and a lot of my colleages have Rolexes en Breitlings, because everybody has to see that they can afford such a watch.
Until now, nobody ever heard of GP and they don't understand why I didn't get a better known watch.
It's nice to be part of a small group of people who share the love for the lesser known works of art.
Leeuwarden, he made a good price for the vintage 45 chrono in red gold. I also bought a vintage 45 manual wind in white gold on the net. I 'll make some photo's next week.
Did you buy your watches because you like GP, or just because you like that specific model.
I first heard of GP as I was shopping for a watch in Alkmaar, where I had a beautiful Vintage 1945 in RG on my wrist.
Shopping in amsterdam introduced me to all those beautiful brands who make their watches by hand en that thought appealed to me.
I took brands like Breitling, Rolex and Omega (although the last one makes nice watches too) of my shortlist, and looked for a more unique piece.
The first buy was a Glashuette Senator, also in RG, but soon that one wasn't enough.
The problem is that this is a very expensive hobby and 'collectors' must be absolutely loaded, because otherwise you can't afford to buy a nice piece every other year.
Grand complication-watches like a tourbillon are beautiful, but I can't imagine wearing a € 100.000+ watch on my wrist, even if I could afford it.
Some things you just don't do...
Still, once again I started to put aside an ammount per month and maybe in a few years (if business stays well) I can buy number 3.
I wasn't really interested in watches, but in 97 i was in Maastricht and saw a rg GP from the 50's or 60's. I loved it but it was then rather expensive. I didn't bought it. I bought a gold eterna-matic which i have been wearing for 2 years. I saw a Zenith elite at a dealer and bought that one, the dealer made a good price for the eterna.
After that things went fast, i bought submariners, GMT, even a Daytona in steel but Rolex wasn't my brand. I bought a Iwc portugieser and later a Big Pilot. A superb watch, but too big. I sold all my watches and bought a GP 2599 in red gold and a AP ro offshore chrono, which i wear often.
The GP is my favourite watch! ( now for quite some long time)
