Two weeks ago I was in Florida for an awards ceremony and vacation, where my company put my wife and I up at the Ritz Carlton in Naples for three days. (woo hoo! I was named one of this 2004's MVP of Citigroup).
Karen and I spent the rest of the week in Orlando, and came home after six days and nights having fun in the sun.
Well, as everyone on this board is well aware of, I am an avid admirer of ultra short haircuts on women. I love it all; from sleek smooth bob cuts, to shaven completely bald. I'm particularly fond of feminine crewcuts; realizing that most ladies are not comfortable with the prospect of being shaved bare, it's an exciting alternative to see a close crop or buzz cut on a woman.
I've seen my fair share of feminine buzzcuts and one inch crops around the St. Louis area. It seems to be a slowly growing (no pun intended) trend with a lot of women in their early thirties to their mid fifties; and I've noticed that it is particularly popular amongst business professionals. Most of the close crops I've seen around town have been on women dressed in their business suits or conservatively tailored dresses and dress suits. They were definitely corporate, and meaning business. In a way, that made the haircut even sexier.
Well, I suppose that I should get to my point, and why I think I'm living in the wrong state. Even though I have seen this growing trend around the St. Louis (midwest) area, I can definitely say that this hairstyle trend is already in full swing in the Florida area. Throughout our entire trip I was seeing feminine crops and buzz cuts left and right. On vacationers, business women, and on people who seemed to be just out and about doing their daily routine. In fact, just getting ready to board our flight home, out of Orlando International Airport, I saw no fewer than 8 women sporting these ultra short styles within a one hour period.
I want to go back to Florida. |
