Guys,

I have a Sabre kit that uses DRB rear uprights. They have 0.648" holes in a long bore at the bottom. The lower a-arm bolts to this which in turn carries the shock mount.

The recommendation from Sabre is to use a 1/2" x 12" SAE bolt thru here. Can't find them anywhere.

Have about decided to take a piece of 4140 and turn what amounts to a double ended bolt with a fat middle to fit the bore. I have heat treat facilities and should be able to get RC 38 on the bolts and a tensile of abt 220k psi.

Any reason this should not be adequate to the task?

Thanks,

Have you tried aviation suppliers for the bolts? Wicks or Avery might do the trick. Seems they typically have a great assortment, although expensive you don't need but two.

Sounds like yours will be fine too, but just more work involved.
