Ok guys, what are your colors going to be on your GT40's. I am now researching all the original colors and the racing team schemes. I have picked out a color that I really like but I'm still open for that special color that I might see before its ready for paint. I'm leaning toward a superformance color called Titanium. Man! is it sharp lookin'.
So what about you guys, what's it gonna be for you?

i'm going with dark blue pearl metalic(ford color) and the stripe with the mustache will be that orangeish red color that comes on the 2000 cobra "R". these colors will be separated with a 1/2 inch black outline stripe between them. also i'm leaning towards painting the front and rear meatballs in white with thier proper spacing.

of course nothing is really definite... i also like the corvette yellow with two black stripes but i think that i will stick to my original plan. car # 1051 had this color scheme back in the reunion in 1989 and i saw the picture and it struck me.

my car will be ready for paint in about 3 months(maybe 4) so i will let you know the result. plus my painter loves the blue and orange so he will probably push for those colors too.

cheers

Luis,
You got one neat souning combo as I know the colors you are reffering to. that combo will look too cool on a GT40.
I think we need more pictures of these guys building these cars. I don't have my kit yet but I sure will keep the build pics coming when I start on it.
If you have more pics Luis, please put them up. I reallylike seeing the different approaches to building these cars.
Your Friend,
Hershal Byrd

Well, I've always liked yellow cars and I think this one will be yellow. Either yellow with black stripes, or, yellow with white stripes like the car that Yamaha had squirreled away in Japan for some number of years.

I also like this particular yellow car that has blue stripes that can be found in on of the popular GT40 books, nice look.

Guys,

Everything I've heard indicates that a GT40 is hard to see in traffic (other than being a blur I mean ;>)

So, I had been thinking of yellow w black stripes like 1025. But, I also love the metallic medium blue ... sort of like Sante Fe Blue that Shelby used at times. That is a while away, so I've not worried about it too much.

Any place to get the paint codes for specific original cars?

I have had about 9 hot cars over the years and I am allways telling my friends that I am considering a number of colors. But 8 of the last 9 have been blue. My car will be similar to the car on the Roaring Forties brochure. This scheme for those who haven't seen it is from the Gulf sponsored Mclaren F1. The car is blue with the silver mustach stripe. These colors are seperated by orange. I am using House of Color for the silver and orange. The silver is the brightest they make and the orange is called Tangelo which is very close to Gulf orange. I haven't decided on the blue yet but am leaning to a blue on the new Audi A4 called Santorin Blue Pearl Effect. I have already painted the centers of my replica six spoke BRM's the orange that will be on the car.

Bob, that Audi color is outstanding, I saw it a month ago. You should have seen the ladies face when I asked if I could see her paint code...
