I found this German company that makes what appears to be a very genuine looking GT40, complete with a full semi-monocoque chassis. The website is in German, but a co-worker was able to trnaslate the information. The rolling chassis is 85,000 DM, or about $35K with todays exchange rate.
I sent the owner an email requesting additional information. When received I will post it.
Here is the website. I know you ALL will check it out.
I have seen the web site before and it looks intersting. Keep in mind that rolling chassis doesn't mean the same in all parts of the world. My RF kit is my second kit that I have imported and rolling chassis is usually body/frame (body not always mounted) and the suspension bolted on with no wheels or tires. GT40's are much different than Cobras in that they have thousands of parts. (Just ask Heshal who is still unpacking his kit). In order to really have a budget you need to know what all parts are nessesary. If you have looked at the Tornado site you can print a list of about every part needed to complete a car.

I sent an email to this German manufacturer requesting additional information, including what is included in his rolling chassis. I have not yet heard back.
I received a video from DRB in Australia. Their car looks pretty good, but not as good as the RF or CAV cars. I saw Wayne's car Saturday (his is a CAV), and it's very high quality.
I've been researching GT40's for almost a year now. Hopefully, by the time I'm ready to make the plunge, I will have all my ducks in a row.

Hi Bill,
Its a long road but I went down it as well. The research is tedeous and and down right perplexing at times. It seems as though you are moving in the right direction. You really have to make close comparison when it's finally narrowed down to two. I can't say the RFGT40 is the best but I can say that it definetly was the best for me. All the things I wanted was in this car. When all is said and done though you have to take the one YOU feel is the best for YOU>

You have posted a wealth of information pertaining to the GT40. I had been anticipating building a GT40 from GT40 Replication, LTD., in New Zealand. I asked the owner if a manual comes with his kit. He said it didn't. Should I be wary of trying to build a car this complex without a manual?
Many thanks for all the help

Bill,
You can build the car without a manual but be prepared to do alot of head scratching and looking at others to see how they did it. A manual is really important in my book because it cuts the build time down considerably. You won't be trying to figure out everything. The RFGT40 manual is on it's way to me and I should get it this week. It is on a CD and you can print out sectionn and pictures as you build. You also get a hard copy manual. Robert Logan is on a mission to supply the best product for the money. I truley believe this as I have conversed with him on a daily basis. He constantly called me with updates on my cars progress! He double checked every detail on my order to make sure I recieved everything I ordered, which I did. As you can tell I am a little biased. That's because I know I made the right choice. Especially after Gordon Levy gave me my first ride in the RFGT40.I still have the smile on me face! Please talk to Gordon if you are truly interested in one of the finest GT40 available. He can and will help.

Are manuals for Bob and I on the way as well? If not, can we burn copies of yours? I asked robert about that the other day and he indicated they were coming, but now that I tihnk about it he said only yours in coming. I could use a manual like a duck needs water.
Hershal is right - you can build one without a manual but you'll do a lot of head scratching - I'm doing it now. I would probably be a lot further along and more inclined to do more work with a manual. Not because I'm afraid, but, I'd prefer to do things right the first time and not second guess the design.

Ron, everybody who has ordered a kit has a manual on the way. I will also have the new info packs in the next week or so if anybody wants one. please e-mail your info to me at glevy74@att.net.

Gordon, I am glad that the manuals are on the way. I also looked at the New Zealand kit and was very concerned to find out that there is no manual at all. He said he doesn't provide a maual because everyone down under likes to do things there own way and implied that Americans seemed to need the security of a manual and that we can't figure things out on our own. I was a little offended by that and told him that we Americans like to see how others do it so we can improve it.
building without a manual could easily add a year to the build time and add cost because of rework. GT40's are much more work than a Cobra or other kits and is part of the reason they are much more expensive. This is my third kit and by far the most challenging and fun. I, like Hershel have become very biased towards the Roaring Forties because of the quality, support from Robert Logan, completness and packaging.

Thanks Gordon, I figured we had them coming but that they were all headed for Hershal for ease of sending. Undoubtedly, the manual will come in very, very, very handy.
I have to agree with Bob, I'm typically very netural but RF and Robert Logan have provided unparalleled service and support. Would I buy another kit from them? In a minute given the quality. This is my first GT40 and it is a challenge, but certainly buildable and very well thought out. At least I don't have problems like missing parts, having to hunt parts down, or worse - things like doors not fitting, pieces not aligning, shoddy glass, etc. Nor do I have to wait three years to get it.
