M: Ni siquiera son amigas!! Son personas que me conocen de vista!! (another girl comes by and greets him by first name) Bueno! Voy a poner el aire acondicionador! (he is trying to close the windows to keep the argument private)
P: No tengo calor!! No tengo calor!!
M: PUES YO SI!!
P: Bueno, entonces sabes lo que voy a hacer?? Voy a subirle todo el volumen al radio para no escuchar lo que gritas!
M: Pues me parece magnifica idea!
P: Ah, si?? Pues lo voy a hacer despues que me contestes una cosa!
M: Que cosa??
P: Supongamos que todas las mujeres de aqui son tus amigas! Entonces, me imagino que debes tener amigas en otros pueblos y en otras ciudades! Donde tienes la principal??
M: Ay, Paula! Por Dios deja ya esas estupideces que me vas a enloquecer!!
P: SI?? Miguel, mira! No te hagas el IMBECIL, si?? Yo se que tu tienes una mujer particular! Donde la tienes?? En XXXX?? En YYYYY?? En Pereira?? O a lo mejor en Bogota??
M: Arthur te esta virando contra mi, verdad? Yo los vi llegar juntos!! Tu que crees?? Que soy un IMBECIL?? Que estoy pintado en la pared?? (he is trying to turn the cards on her, seems to be working at least to some degree per her facial expression) O es que tu no tendrias amantes si yo viviera con una ex-mujer mia en nuestra finca?? AH?? Dime!! Contestame!! No tengo amantes!! NO tengo amantes ni aqui ni en Bogota!! Seria estupido tener una amante en Bogota, sabiendo que estoy aqui contigo!!
P: A lo mejor no!
M: Mira... espero que te calles de aqui a la hacienda. Porque no quiero chocarme por estar peleando aqui contigo!!
P: Seria lo mejor que nos podria pasar!! que nos matemos!!
(Carolina calls Sebastian's office, asks Margarita how he is, Margarita says he is not well, leaves office often... )
(Sebastian has another session with Doctora Reyes. Seb tells her he is going on a month-long marketing trip with his coffee's buyers. Leaving next week. Sebastian seems much more comfortable in his rapport with with Dra. Reyes than before. She wishes him a nice trip. Sebastian says goodbye, then turns around, insists she has to tell him her diagnosis before he goes on the trip. She suggests at her office, he refuses that idea. She suggests how about a peaceful place outside the city area. He asks her if she is willing to sacrifice an entire weekend on his case, and asks her if she has to check first with her husband or children. She has a boyfriend but that won't be a problem, She will let him know. She has no children and her folks don't live here. )
When Miguel and Paula get home at the hacienda, Miguel insists she is making it all up and listens too much to gossip about him. She says it is all clear now. He wants them to be together 24 hours a day so she will realize she is making it up. She responds she is not the type to hang around her man 24 hours a day just to spy on him. He lies sweet-talking her that he loves her and wants to save the marriage. (yada-yada) (Here comes Arthur arriving, Paula says she is going to take a bath, Miguel is left alone with Arthur as Arthur is walking in)
M: Thank you, noble friend!! Quiero agradecerte que hayas llevado a Paula al pueblo a espiarme!! A seguirme!!
A: La idea fue de ella! (playing dumb here lol!)
M: Si?? Y tu la llevaste inmediatamente!! Porque no ves la hora en que mi relacion con ella se termine!! Para quedarte con ella y con la administracion total de la hacienda!! Ademas, no estas aqui desde hace tiempo?? Importunando una relacion!! Y esperando que tengamos el mas minimo problema para aconsejarla!! Para consentirla!! Y para envenenarla contra mi, no??
A: Mire, Miguel!! No empiece a buscar culpables!! Eso iba a suceder tarde o temprano!! Usted no ha guardado la mas minima discrecion en la region!! Y que?? Penso que ella nunca saldria de aqui al pueblo?? PEnso Usted que la iba a tener aqui encerrada cuidando su ropa y su comida?? Ya todo se sabe! Entonces, si quiere mantener su matrimonio, mejor sea mas cuidadoso en sus andanzas!
M: (with a very angry face, pointing finger at A) I will have to be more careful with you!!
A: If only yo hubiera hablado antes, Usted ya no estaria aqui desde hace mucho tiempo! (I love this man's spanglish!!) Solo he guardado silencio por no estropear su relacion!! He visto sufrir a Paula, por su culpa!! Y aun he guardado silencio.
M: Ah!! Merci!! Entonces que?? Tengo que agradecerle?? Gracias!! Muy amable!!
A: No hay porque! No se moleste!! Yo hago las cosas como me indica mi conciencia, si?? Solo quiero aclararle una cosa! Si Paula sigue sufriendo por su culpa, si Usted sigue mortificandola con su vida mundana... no cuente conmigo! Porque ya tal vez podria no soportar verla asi!!
M: Mire! (still pointing finger, but as soon as Ar opens his mouth again, we feel his tail going right between his legs...)
A: Ay YA!!! (shoves him off waving his arm... Miguel leaves...)
