Dr. Angel (the Roya campaign boss Gaviota had before) comes to see Mauricio Salinas, tells him his wife tome him the Vallejo wives have been campaigning against Gaviota, saying she and Dr. Angel had affair. He tells M it was over teas, the main objective of these meetings is to undermine Gaviota's reputation… Dr Angel is very reluctant to say what stories, MS insists in knowing them… so he tells M..)
(Salinas calls Gaviota in his office and asks her to close the door…)
S: Quiero que lo que le voy a decir lo tome con mucha calma. Quiero que me lo prometa. .. Parece que las Vallejo se estan reuniendo con las esposas de los ejecutivos de la Asociacion! Y ya se imaginara para que, no?
G: Me imagino que para seguirme desprestigiando!
S: Si…
G: Me imagino que han dicho que me les trate de robar a los maridos y trate de robar a la empresa, que soy una delincuente, o minimo que debo estar enganchada por ahi con un Señor sacandole plata, no??
S: Los detalles no importan. Lo que importa es que no le afecten a Usted. Se lo digo para que este prevenida.
G: Ay, Doctor! Usted cree que no me olia que ellas estaban tramando alguna cosa? Si con razon estaban tan calladitas!! Yo le dije a Usted, Doctor! Que esa gente no me igan a dejar a mi trabajar en paz!!
S: Gaviota, tiene que manejar esto con cuidado. Ellas hicieron un pacto de silencio. Y al que abra la boca, le arman un escandalo! Y si Usted llega a armar un escandalo con esto, Gaviota, me va a hacer quedar muy mal con el Doctor Victor Angel y con Dorita su Señora!
G: Ah! Ella fue la que hablo? Y que le dijeron a la Señora Dorita? Que yo seguramente me estaba enredando con el Doctor Angel? Debe ser eso porque ese es el estilo de ellas!
S: (getting more irritated and louder with her) Y a Usted porque le preocupa eso?? Porque se amarga pensando en lo que le estan diciendo?? Los detalles!
G: Ay, pero como no me voy a amargar , por DIOS!! Es que es la imagen mia la que estan cuestionando! NO la de Usted!!
S: Gaviota, me esta faltando la promesa!!
G: Es increible, Doctor!
S: Le voy a preparar un café Santo Domingo, (tells her the whole legend behind that particular coffee in an attempt to take her mind off the subject)
G: Doctor, que fue lo que les dijeron las Vallejo??
S: Y que importancia tiene? Lo importante es que no la afecte. Para los enciclopedistas la razon era lo mas importante.
G: Ay, Doctor, mire… Yo quede de enciclopedias en mi vida… hasta la coronilla! (LOL!) A ver, pues! Que es lo que andan diciendo esas arpias?? (he gets serious again)
S: A Usted que le importa??! Gaviota, lo que importan no son los detalles!! NO son los comentarios!! Lo que importa es que no lo afecten a uno!!
G: Pues si! Pero es que… eso 3s lo que yo no entiendo, que esta pasando, Doctor.? Porque desde que el Doctor Angel salio de aqui, a Usted le cambio el tono de voz inmediatamente! Yo no veo que a Usted… no le esten afectando los comentarios, que se este pasando por encima de ellos. Le estan haciendo daño! Y la culpa la tiene Usted! Porque yo le pedi a Usted que me dejara hablarle, que me dejara contarle sobre mi pasado, sobre mi historia!… Que me diera la oportunidad de contarle mi version antes de que vinieran estas Señoras! Pero Usted no acepto! Y entonces mire las consecuencias!!
S: Pero Gaviota, a Usted que tanto le importa lo que yo pueda saber de su pasado, ah??
G: … Mucho!…
S: Mire, Gaviota.. Yo soy su jefe!! Y su trabajo conmigo ha sido absolutamente impecable hasta hoy!! Y eso es lo que importa!! Ah?? O cree que es que la voy a despedir porque Usted haya hecho algo antes de llegar a esta oficina?? Bueno, pues eso si me decepciona mucho de Usted!!
G: No, pero es que Usted esta hablando de la empleada! Pero yo le estoy hablando de la mujer! Porque Usted aqui no solamente tiene una asistente! Tiene una mujer… que sabe reconocer la calidad humana de la gente! Y desde ese punto de vista, a mi no me importa el concepto del Director de este Departamento, sino el del hombre que se ha jugado todo por mi!! Y yo estoy segura que detras de ese disfraz de ejecutivo que Usted tiene, hay un corazon muy grande! Y yo eso lo aprecio mucho! Y a mi SI me afecta que se lo vayan a envenenar asi no mas! A mi me importa mucho el concepto que Usted tenga de mi como empleada. Pero sobre todo, como persona. Entiende?
S: (pauses a moment, he is moved…) Ahora entiendo porque Sebastian Vallejo… se enloquecio por Usted. Gaviota, nadie… NADIE me va a envenenar el concepto que yo tengo de Usted. Y no estoy hablando solamente de la empleada. Tambien estoy hablando de la persona… y de la mujer.
G: Ay, Doctor… pues perdoneme por haberle alzado la voz.. la verdad es que me da una rabia oirle el tono que me hablo!…
S: Perdoneme tambien. Yo no queria gritarle… y haga lo que quiera con ese listado (the guest list to upcoming Assoc events)… (Gav exits his office, yells at Marta to take the Vallejo wives off the list PERMANENTLY!!,She even curses them! LOL! Marcela replies 'gracias cuñada!' kidding around…Gav feels embarrassed that Marcela heard her explode about the Vallejo wives …Gaviota takes Marcela into her office… Harold begins to pace around, Salinas notices him and invites him to some coffee in his office…)
(Gav tells Marcela about the call to CE, and Sebastian's response… and about what the Vallejo wives are doing now against her… She tells Marcela she is now a witness that the V wives were on the guest list up until she found out about this new plan against her… Gav warns Marcela that this battle with the V wives will last but is not against her or Cecilia… She tells Marcela she has Dr Salinas unconditional support… Marcela tells Gaviota that Harold also has 'sindrome de Salinas agudizada' lately… (is jealous of Dr Sal)
(Gav says this jealousy thing is not normal anymore… Gav asks Marcela about Sebastian. Gav is surprised to hear he is doing good, because that is not the message she got with the fax and call from CE.
(Salinas and Harold begin Coffee-talk, to Harold's surprise, some of the best coffees in the world come from countries like Tanzania and Ethiopia ('negros' are also involved in the coffee world, and in significant ways. Salinas and Harold get along really well, joking around and enjoying each other's company…)
(Gav gives the impression to Marcela that she is surprised Seb is able to overcome the anxiety by himself)
Marc: … Dejelo en paz! Quien la entiende? Usted le dijo que la dejara en paz. Tambien le dijo que la enloqueceria si no la dejaba en paz! Ahora EL esta en tratamiento y terapia…… Desde esta noche Usted va a tener la libertad y la tranquilidad que tanto le pidio a Sebastian…
(Harold and Salinas say goodbye when Marcela comes out of Gav's office… when they are leaving…)
Harold: Te voy a decir una cosa… Ese maldito… es encantador!! (referring to Salinas)
