i'm still feeling sad but trying to get on with life...things are getting better, slowly but surely...
work is keeping me very busy b/c i've transferred to a new unit (i.c.u.) and am doing a 10 week course along with it...
just this week i'm moving to my new house...i had been temporarily living with my mom over the summer, while i was waiting for my new home to be completed, and now it's all done...i'll be very happy to move from here....still staying at my mom's condo has been difficult, b/c all her things and memories are here...it's been sold and the closing date will be 21 nov., so i have 5 weeks left now, to get totally moved out and resttled into my own home...
it's just been a bit over the top with stress the past few months, but now things are getting back to "normal"...thanks again for thinking of me...

trying not to make too much of the sniper situation so my kids don't get too freaked out by it... the family is doing well... I am not here so often because I can't write too many dialogues all at once that much, last few months have been light in my husband's gigs but it is catching up to the holiday season now so I will have better chances from here to the rest of the year...

It is a beautiful and very funny novela with great acting and unusually rich dialogues. The interesting thing about this novela is that by the time 1/3 of the novela has gone by you suddenly realize that it is truly a romantic story and the main characters make a very sensual couple. This is probably the only novela in the world that you have to see twice because it is difficult to catch the details the first time. And if you have seen Cafe, you will notice many details that are the same. For example in BEtty la Fea she starts writing her famous diary in October. And her boss is always confusing her name like Salinas used to do with Gavi. and I could go on and on. It is truly an unforgettable story.

I am not in the U.S. and I cannot see BLF the second time around. Boy I really envy you. It is sooo greaat. I like Armando, the leading man as much as Sebastian.
They are the best. The only consolation I have now is watching BLF via internet, broadcast from Chile. The reception is not very good. The screen is about 4"X 4"!and the image is slow-moving like watching slides but the voice is very good...and well, it is better than nothing. (Sigh ) The only bad thing is that I cannot record it. Anyway right now we are two thirds of the way. It is a very sad part of the novela.
I hope you really enjoy it the second time around!

the false balance sheet under pressure from Armando. Armando got in a fight with Nicolas and Betty gave him the big slap on the face. The next day Marcela comes in furious and chews her out and treats her like dirt for mistreating Armando. At this point is is sad because Armando goes around nervous and lovesick and Betty thinks he is faking it.

for money?? He is a very minor character and not very nice at all I don't know but we do not really know what he really is like only what he did to Betty. Is there another Miguel? The second time around I still liked Armando because if you notice, under the facade there are many moments where he is nice to Betty when no one else is in top management. Don´t forget that Armando never really reveals his feelings to his friends. He always wants to be Mr. Cool. But pay attention to the little details, the ones you probably did not see the first time. Overall I agree he simply was not nice and had a lot of growing up to do. But I cannot look at him in the same light as I once did. Now I am much more tolerant of his actions. I guess I am a die-hard fan.

he's the lovely frenchman (catalina's frined) who fell in love with her, towards the very end....they wre together in cartagena....
unless i totally missed something in the translation (and i do miss alot....i'm constatnly learning more spanish and really not very fluent at all!!), i don't think he took her $$$...i thought he sincerely loved her and cared for her, and armando was extrememly jealous of him....
he was sooo kind to her and helped her to believe in herself, and was very good looking too....if i had my druthers, i think i may have taken him at the time!!!!
i'll try to pay more attention to armando now that you've mentioned these things about him....right now his mean words and actions still irritate me, although i know that very soon things will change!!...

such a gentleman.Wow! Now that´s something else. A lot of people really fell for him. Others think he is too conventional. I really liked him because he was soo nice to Betty. He did not know her well enough to actually be in love with her but he was very much interested in her and would probably have developed deep feelings if they had been together longer. He was very handsome and Betty really got a lot of confidence with him. He also made Armando even more jealous and appreciative of Betty. But Michel was not as passionately in love
with Betty as Armando. The guy named Miguel was the tough guy in the Roman gang who seduced Betty so he could win a bet with Roman. During the novela they used another name also in reference to him. Maybe that is why you got confused.
Anyway I feel better now that I know that you like Michel!!LOL

I got through the airport scenes before San Andres trip and then everyone was asking for more so I started from episode 1 and am at this point through posting dialogues from the first 100 episodes. I am still writing them down when hubby is out working his gigs, which are more often now in the fall and xmas season, so I am hoping I will be done with the novela sometime next year... since there are still 59 eps left I doubt I will finish in xmas, but should go on little by little till we finish. CS dialogues took me about two years and CS has only half (80) the eps in Cafe... so I am taking it slow...

Sebastian asks Bernardo about Salinas' background and reputation. Bernardo says they are excellent! Sebastian asks Bernardo if Salinas is homosexual since he is not married or committed to anyone.. Bernardo says don't think so. He has no current relationship but not because of his tendencies, but of his being a workaholic. This really startles Sebastian, since Gaviota would be the perfect match for a man with no time for socializing outside the working circles.
Invitations arrive at the Vallejo households. Paula asks Cecilia if this surprises her.

Gaviota gets a call from Marcela and Gaviota gets her to arrange a meeting with Doña Cecilia. As Gaviota is leaving for the restaurant, Salinas tells Gaviota not to make any concessions in order to get them out of the mess, and that she has his complete support no matter what.
(at restaurant, Gaviota is behaving very lady-like, and Cecilia is her 'lady' usual... they have a really nice calm and at times revealing, emotional and moving conversation)

Gav: No, Claro, Doña Cecilia! Usted no crea que yo no se de eso. Por eso era que yo queria hablar personalmente con Usted. Porque resulta que Doña Lucrecia se comunico con mi jefe, el Doctor Salinas. Y le dijo que la familia habia tomado todo el incidente como una afrenta. Si?
Cec: (more serious, somewhat irritated) ES una afrenta!
Gav: Pues si, pero no de la Asociacion. Seria entonces una afrenta mia! Porque yo tome la decision! El Doctor Avellaneda de esto no sabe nada. Entonces yo pensaba ... despues de lo que paso con... con la Secretaria del Doctor Avellaneda... yo atender y recibir a esas Señoras!... a cuenta de que?? (Cecilia is in a controlled shock) Ve?? Porque Usted las conoce muy bien a ellas! Y Usted sabe muy bien a que van a ir! Pues a ofuscarme o a mortificarme a mi la vida! Tambien pues con mucha pena le digo que yo no le tengo que explicar a Usted ni quien soy ni de donde vengo! Entonces, yo creo que va a ser una situacion muy tensa! Para mi y para el Doctor Avellaneda! Porque... a EL no le gusto nada pues... el atentado! Inclusive llevo el caso hasta el Comite Nacional de Cafeteros.
Cec: Y ellos estan invitados?
Gav: SI, Señora. Estan invitados. Entonces... pues yo no quiero que Usted tome lo que yo le voy a decir como si yo la estuviera amenazando. Ni como una afrenta pues contra su familia. Pero vea! Si esas Señoras van, si se llegan a aparecer alla pues a hacerme la guerra, yo es que no me controlo! Y yo no me pienso quedar callada. Eso es lo que yo quiero evitar! Entonces, si Usted decide que la familia se margine de los eventos de la Asociacion, yo creo que el mas perjudicado va a ser, pues Sebastian! Hasta el punto de que si Usted toma esa decision, yo renuncio! Porque yo si no me perdonaria que las relaciones entre la Asociacion y su familia, pues, se rompieran. Gav: Por ultimo, yo quiero que Usted entienda una cosa. Para estas Señoras, este es un simple coctel. Para mi, es mi trabajo. Y no ha sido facil para mi llegar ahi. Me ha tocado pues luchar demasiado! Y entonces... para una mujer como yo, que solo tiene a su mama en la vida, pues lo mas importante es el trabajo!
Cec: Nunca he dejado de reconocer sus meritos, Carolina.
Gav: Y yo no le estoy diciendo esto a USted para que se compadezca de mi ni nada de eso. Sino para que Usted entienda el calibre de sacrificio que yo tengo que hacer si Usted decide marginar a su familia de los eventos de la Asociacion. Y yo no lo hago por ellas. Porque a mi si no me tiemblan las cuerdas para decir que renuncio. Yo... pues lo hago por personas como Usted, por la Asociacion, y especialmente por Sebastian.

Gav: Porque... por ejemplo si Sebastian no va a este evento, EL va a perder contacto con compradores de cafe Gourmet muy importantes. Ve? Y EL ha luchado tanto por ese cafe! Y ha sido tan dificil traer a estos visitantes ... que vea! yo pondria mi cabeza (gestures being in a guillotine) solo porque EL no quedara por fuera. Yo... mejor dicho! yo renunciaria con tal de que EL no perdiera esta oportunidad.
Cec: Usted sigue enamorada de Sebastian... ?
Gav: (thinks for a moment but responds assertive) Si, Señora. Y yo creo pues que ese es como un mal que a mi no se me va a quitar sino cuando yo me muera! Y pues que ese es el mal que yo estoy pagando con su familia! Y entonces yo quiero que Usted tenga claro esto. Por mas de que yo me muera por EL, yo respeto su niño, su matrimonio y su Señora! Por mas que ella me quiera ver a mi seis metros bajo tierra!
Cec: Carolina, Sebastian es un ser independiente de la familia. EL va a ir con o sin mi consentimiento! EL no se perderia un evento de esta naturaleza. Y menos! por darle gusto a las Señoras!

Luc: (noticeable sarcastic tone in her voice) Muchisimas gracias por considerar que podemos seguir usando nuestro apellido. Y ya que todo esto es en familia, nosotras queremos saber si no te parece una ofensa que no nos hayan invitado al coctel de la Asociacion.

Cec: Lucrecia! Y te parece bien lo que hicieron Lucia y tu??! Y sin embargo la Asociacion no sento airadamente su protesta, no! Muy amablemente Roberto Avellaneda vino a hablar conmigo! Y eso que ellos si tenian todo el derecho de armar un escandalo en grande con semejante cosa tan fea que hicieron Ustedes!!
Pau: Pues a mi realmente me parece que esto es una sancion para la familia.
Cec: No, Paula. No! No es para la familia. A los varones los invitaron! A Ivan le extendieron una invitacion como comprador extranjero! Y estan apoyando en todo a Sebastian! Eso no es sancionar a la familia! Sino a Ustedes!
Lucre: Entonces estas de acuerdo con lo que esta haciendo la Gaviota??
Cec: No, Lucrecia! Estoy de acuerdo en que Ustedes no asistan a ningun evento de la Asociacion. Hombre! Es que hay que tener un poco de recato, Lucia! Ustedes no pueden aparecerse a una fiesta de la Asociacion de Cafeteros, y saludar a Roberto Avellaneda asi, como si nada hubieran hecho!! Hay que tener un poco de verguenza, por DIOS!! Hay que aceptar alguna sancion cuando uno tiene la culpa. Maxime cuando solo se trata de un coctel!
Luc: Cecilia, tu sabes muy bien que no se trata de un simple coctel. Y si esta decision la hubiera tomado Roberto, nosotras no hubieramos tenido ningun problema! Pero esta mujer esta detras de todo esto. Esta usando el poder que tiene en la Asociacion. Y si ademas de eso, tu le das tu apoyo, va a tener el piso suficiente para hacer con nosotras lo que se le de la gana!

Cec: Angela, lo que me parece justo es que Roberto Avellaneda y la Asociacion tengan su evento en paz!! Y si Ustedes no estan incluidas en esa lista de invitados, es porque las consideran NOCIVAS para esa paz!! (LOL!)
Luc: Bueno, Entonces todo esta muy claro. Estas de parte de esa mujer.
Cec: NO, no! Yo no estoy de parte de nadie! Simplemente digo lo que me parece justo! (smiling) Y tu no puedes quejarte, Lucia. Muchas veces te dije que si ibas a pelear a tu marido con Carolina, tenias que mantener tu altura! No lo hiciste y mira donde has llegado.
Lucre: Bueno, Muchisimas gracias por su apoyo. Esperamos que se divierta mucho en el coctel. Porque no solamente la invito para quitarnos el apoyo, sino tambien para metersela en el bolsillo!
Cec: Yo no he dicho que voy a asistir a esa recepcion, Lucrecia! Entiendo perfectamente el porque no las invitaron a Ustedes. Una cosa es lo que yo piense como cabeza de esta familia y otra cosa es lo que yo quiero hacer como mujer! Y no asistiendo a esa reunion es la unica forma de yo solidarizarme con Ustedes.
Pau: Abuela, yo no te entiendo.
Cec: Es muy sencillo, Paula. Las mujeres de esta casa no vamos a asistir a esa reunion, pero los hombres Vallejo si van a ir! Y les prohibo a Ustedes interfieran en el trabajo de sus maridos con toda clase de componentes. Y no habra pronunciamiento de la familia!

Cec: Un momento, Marcela! Yo quiero que quede algo claro! Yo no tome esta decision por ella, eh? Unicamente la tome porque... pues porque no quiero pelear con la Asociacion. Ni con Roberto Avellaneda, sobretodo despues de semejante escandalo! Y tambien porque queria conocer cual era la posicion de Carolina. Y le confieso que me gusto lo que me dijo.

Cec: No. No es solo por eso. Sino porque lo que mas le mortificaba a ella era el negocio de Sebastian!

Mar: Abuela, todos los delitos que ella haya cometido es por amor a Sebastian. Y todo lo ilicito que ella haya hecho es por estar con EL!! Y cuando uno hace cosas bajo la excusa del amor esta bien hecho!

(Angela, Lucia, Lucrecia, and Paula are at Lucia's apartment, Angela has the phone numbers of all the cafetero wives and tries to convince them not to go to the coctel, but to no avail, all of them are going...)
(Sebastian calls Gaviota, Salinas shouts to Gaviota while he is on the phone, he gets upset)
Seb: Gaviota! Mira, dile a ese IMBECIL queno voy a permitir que te grite!! Y donde se le ocurra gritarte esta noche yo lo mato!!... (Gaviota gets rid of Salinas)
Gav: Yo quiero que Usted me prometa, por lo que mas quiera, que no me va a armar un escandalo aqui.
Seb: Gaviota! Mira, yo no permito que te griten!! Ahora! Si no te va a ultrajar, no pasara nada! Pero otro grito de esos!...
Gav: Si, si, si! Es que yo en mi vida lo habia visto asi de nervioso! Vea! Usted me promete que se va a comportar como una persona normal?
Seb: Bueno! Si EL se comporta normal, no pasara nada!

(Angela is on phone whinning with other cafetero wives... still no success in her protest campaign. The Vallejo ladies are getting wasted after several mixed drinks... Lucrecia suggests to put music on, Lucia turns on stereo, but SURPRISE!! It is Gaviota's tape!! all the ladies get a good laugh about it, too drunk to get upset... )
(Salinas asks Marta how he looks... Sebastian does same with Margarita as he is ready to leave the office...)
(Miguel calls the apartment, Paula begins a conversation with Lucia and the other wives about a slight suspicion that Miguel has another woman because of the stained jeans she found one morning at hacienda... Lucia plays it as if Paula is panicking out of nothing...)
(Sebastian arrives at coctel, and then Salinas arrives too.. they are standing side by side)
Seb: Me parecen muy merecidas las felicitaciones. Yo se cuanto le costo organizar todo esto! La verdad es que cuando la llame, escuche como le gritaba.
Sal: Si, A veces me pongo un poco nervioso cuando tengo un evento de esta magnitud.
Seb: Pues si, yo le confieso, yo le confieso que yo NUNCA le grite a Gaviota cuando trabajaba conmigo. No me parece una mujer para gritarle. Y para serle franco, me ofende saber que le grite.
Sal: Yo soy el primero en lamentarlo. Ella es muy delicada. Y tambien me molesta cuando la veo llorar. En general llora cuando habla con Usted. Yo no creo que Gaviota sea una mujer que merezca que la hagan llorar.
Seb: Estamos de acuerdo. Y yo soy el primero en lamentarlo. Pero mientras yo no pueda evitar que Usted le grite, Usted si puede hacer algo para que ella no llore.

but my last three weeks or so have been a roller coaster... last friday I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed and it has been just nonstop... but I will do my best to post at least part of the Gaviota/Cecilia wonderful conversation today...

Today afternoon was filled with news about Luis Miguel's promotional visit to Spain before the concerts he's going to give in our country. An important part of the conference itself concentrated on his love life and his past? relationship with the Mexican actress was mentioned, and said there were pictures of them together. He neither confirmed or denied the romance and he just beat about the bush by talking about the nice atmosphere surrounding the artistic world. Of course, the pressconference was among the hightlights of Spanish gossip TV-shows, such as "Dia a dia" and "Con T de Tarde", which even showed pictures of her and mentioned they had been together years ago.

Las noticias de este mediodía en España en parte vinieron marcadas por la rueda de prensa que el cantante Luis Miguel ofreció en España antes de sus conciertos en nuestro país. Parte importante de la misma se centró en su vida sentimental, y su pasada? relación sentimental con la actriz KdC, argumentando que existían fotos de ambos(juntos). El cantante ni confirmó ni negó la relación "Quién calla otorga", (IMHO). Por respuesta, habló sobre la atmósfera que rodea el medio artístico. Ni que decir tiene que la rueda de prensa fue uno de los puntos fuertes de los programas de cotilleo en España, como "Dia a dia" y "Con T de Tarde", en el que incluso llegaron a mostrar fotos de ella, al tiempo que recordaron que había existido una relación entre ellos en el pasado.
