Ulises's real intention is a sincere concern for Chabelita

I believe Ulises's real intention is not revenge...but a genuine concern for Chabelita's well-being (remember he was captivated by her from the moment he saw her...way before he ever found out she was his daughter).

This is the way I see it. Upon returning to Mexico after several years of absence, the only thing Ulises wanted to do was to "see" his daughter. It was only after MariFer lied to him (telling him their daughter was dead) and after MariFer adamantly refused to let him see their daughter that he started to "entertain" the thought of taking custody. Now that Ulises has discovered that Chabelita is his daughter and has assimilated what Guillermo told him...that Chabelita was discovered at Jesus Garcia's doorsteps after roaming the streets for only-heaven-knows-how-long and after running away from an only-heaven-knows-why-she-was-there-in-the-
first-place orphanage...Ulises is appalled and disconcerted. "Where was Maria Fernanda when all this was happening?", asks Ulises. Now...Ulises knows MariFer has threatened to have him forcibly thrown out the door the next time he shows up at her house/mansion...so any explanation from her is out. It's also hard to believe anyone who's lied to you before...so Ulises's only option is to take custody of Chabelita...because he is truly worried about (and loves) her.

Another thing, when Ulises abandoned MariFer (which was very wrong) he didn't exactly leave behind a struggling-to-make-ends-meet girlfriend. MariFer (as well as Ulises) is extremely well-to-do...and he left her knowing she would be well provided for...now emotionally...that's another story. It's up to MariFer to decide when (if ever) he's paid his dues and forgive him.

I believe the ONLY people responsible for Chabelita's "horrifying experiences" in the orphanage were her own grandfather (MariFer's father) who put her there and the lady in charge of the orphanage who made her life a living hell.

You're right about the "good" guys winning in the end (but only in telenovelas). I think this story will end with MariFer marrying Jesus and winning custody of Chabelita. Ulises won't be used as an example to all those men that have run away (leaving behind a pregnant girlfriend) because he has demonstrated to be sorry. Chabelita will accept him as her second father and Ulises will be granted visiting privileges.
