| My son's dad suffered a burst aneurysm two weeks ago, and has been in a coma since then. It has been doubly and triply confirmed that there is no remaining brain function, and so his wife made the decision to stop feeding and ventilation. He continues to breathe shallowly on his own, for now.
My son sounded undecided about whether to stay for the service. You all know what unsatisfying affairs they are. And, quite possibly maddening, after these very intense weeks of up-and-down.
ETA: He died on Tuesday, and the service is Sunday in South Carolina. I haven't heard anything from my son since Monday, so I don't know what he intends to do.
His dad grew up around here, and only moved to SC recently. I suspect there will be a service for him up here ... maybe.
