Hi everyone! I've been thinking alot about the good old days - I'm in a Master's program for Instructional Systems (an educational degree in FSU's educational psychology dept). I'm also a community manager for one of my company's external sites, and am very big in the social media scene (esp for education). I'm taking a class this semester about Web 2.0 and education, and one of the books is titled "Here Comes Everybody". They talk about meetup.com, and specifically the meetups of Ex-Jehovah's Witnesses.

So I've been thinking about the old timers (Ford how weird you posted recently -- you've been on my mind). I have alot I want to tease out about the community we had here -- maybe its time to beat the bushes for a reunion?

This place was so important to me, the more I try to explain it the more I realize how significant it was for me.

ANYHOO -- read the book. It's fantastic if you are trying to wrap your head around social media.

No, I don't think anyone has talked about this book here; in fact, I hadn't heard of it before now.

What are your kids up to? I've lost track - are you an empty-nester yet?

My oldest is back home, graduated from college but the economy + autism (she has Asperger's Syndrome) have made the job hunt very tough.
The youngest will be a junior in college this year. Last year he was the Student Govt secretary, this year he is his frat's VP and a residence advisor. He is a big pain in my you-know-what. I think he's alot like I was.

but "old fart" does.

Heard a comic the other day. He said that youtube, twitter and facebook are going to merge and form the ultimate time waster website to be called "youtwitface"

Can't say I've read the book. It sounds interesting. I know I'm not one of the REALLY old timers but I've been here a very long time (probably 10 years).

Good luck with school. How long before you complete your Master's?

I'm in a Master's program too, and it sounds similar to yours.. Mine's in Human Resources Development at CLemson University, but I just finished an ISD course, and I'm in the middle of an instrumentation class now. Interesting stuff..

I'll look up that book.. sounds good. How's everybody doing?
