To whom it may concern, if that's a possibility.
When I purchased my very first custom built pc, I asked for a top drawer printer and my package came with an Epson Stylus Photo 700.
I kept my Stylus 700 throughout the life of that PC, as well as several subsequent PC's right up until last year when we came across a deal on an Epson Stylus Photo RX595 printer. So, just for shits and giggles, we bought it and recycled the old 700. The old 700 still worked fine but it was becoming difficult to find ink for it so the new purchase wasn't entirely whimsical.
The new RX595 worked very well, much like its predecessor. I was quite happy with it. Now mostly, we use it for printing out documents, especially me. We seldom print out colour pictures and when we did, to be frank, they didn't really appear to be a step up from the old 700 but, so what. I replaced the black ink cartridge in it 3 times and then one fine day...
My printer at work was out of ink SO, I did all my drafting and paperwork at home, only to discover that my RX595 immediately ran out of ink, both black and yellow, of all things. I drove 60 miles to the nearest town that sells this crap and purchased another new black ink cartridge for it. When I got home, I discovered that inserting the new black ink cartridge remedied NOTHING. I wrote to you and to your credit, you wrote back promptly, informing me that my RX595 won't print unless all the ink reservoirs are viable. This despite the fact that I just wanted to print in black.
So, once again, I took out a chunk of my work day (notice how I'm not cursing, it's an effort) and drove the 60 miles to the nearest town. Before I left, I took note that in addition to the yellow, all of the other colours (FOUR) were also poised on the precipice of emptiness, necessitating that they ALL needed replacing if I was to continue enjoying the use of my RX595.
So once again, I crossed the doorway into Staples only to discover that the costs of the 5 inks I needed were TWICE as much as I paid for the printer, that whimsical great deal. With tax, all 6 inks were over $180.00.
I don't know about you but my finances have taken a beating this last year and I've been trying to save a buck where I can. Having had to drive 60 miles TWICE and expend 8 hours of my work days, I was already a little ticked at you, but add the 180.00 and consider me pissed.
So I drove over to the mall, they have a refilling guy there. Turns out, you've double chipped the little bastards, and they can't be refilled.
What did I do?
I drove back over to the Staples and I bought a brand new HP photo printer with a complete ink replacement for $140.00. The ink cartridges that I bought as replacements are refillable. I drove home and took my new Epson Photo Stylus RX595 and took it over to my friends place. He has a log spliiter. We split your printer, several times in fact, then we burned it.
I will never buy Epson products again, you assholes are crooks.
Randy Schultz P.S. the HP works great
