I usually track in grass and then when out at the club, use the fields to track in that sandy loam - the dogs do real good in it that way. I just hate the mud splattered all over me for days afterwards!! My dog snorts up so much dirt from the field, I bet the farmer is getting a little miffed!! hahha... I have done him on some asphault and cement as well, and he does fine, but just wondered what the majority of trials were held - just wondered. Ours is always on the dirt - nice sandy loam that imprints real easy so it is a fairly easy tracking surface - the only real problems come with the high winds that often occur - some of the other dogs are bothered by it but my dog isn't - he doesn't care about wind or rain or anything as long as he has a track to shove his nose on!
I will check out the group - the UDC has a new tracking club thing too that I was thinking of checking out... I did read some of the information and it was very informative.
thanks
