I also didn't watch the show when it was on. Heck, I don't even remember the commercials for the show. What night was it run on? I take it that it was a prime time spot, was it an hour per week?
I would have a different reason for being frustrated Diane, the reason being whenever I watch a show that is this good, (which doesn't come often I have to say), I know the damn networks going to pull it after only a few seasons. You know the networks, they pull a good show and then have the stupid ones stay on FOREVER.
So the nagging fear of 'the end' would be there for me, as well as the 'when are they going to get to the good part of this relationship' anxiety blues.
Like I said this is the first time around for me, and so I have to say thank you Diane, because I didn't know they got married!!!WHOA! I'm like totally blown away by that, didn't know it at all!
Fran strikes me as someone who totally understands what it's like to be 'us'. The girls at home watching this romance and wondering...when? when? WHEN?
Those old shows were written, directed and produced by men. It seems they made it so they either NEVER got together, or it went on endlessly until the ratings dropped and then they did a quick slam dunk wedding that was utterly out of character and then the show ended. Since this show was produced by Fran Fine oops I mean Fran Drescher, there are many moments where she gives us the audience what we really want...really sexy kisses, cuddling, etc, and hilarious jokes about the need to move forward. Mr. Sheffield is beautifully played. He perfectly captured the non-commiting male who is actually a little bit of a turn on as he is slow to move on something so important to him. It says 'intelligent guy' in a most endearing way. |
