I was wondering if I might have the same symptoms of Fran had before she was diagnosed with Uterine Cancer?
I was recently diagnosed with pernicious anemia by a gastroenterologist. My husband was taught how to give me the injections which I get once a month. I was told with pernicious anemia comes an autoimmune disease but I don't know what I have; I've only gone through alot of doctors already not being able to find one who will troubleshoot.
I was told by another gastroenterologist that people with B12 are deficient in 3 things. That is B12, iron, and calcium. He said that people that are calcium deficient feel pain "the very bone". I tell my rheumatolgist that I feel pain to the very bone all the time and tell him it almost feels like I have bone cancer. He doesn't respond to that. I'm taking a sumplement right now called Citracal which a Rite-aid Phamacist recommended. I also take a chewable mutivitamin daily from a health food store. For the pernicious anemia, I have to take Pepcid 20 mg before a meal in the morning, and then before every meal after that "Gas-X" and before bedtime, Pepcid 20 mg.
My stomach symptoms: I burp alot, hiccup,(but I have reflux but no acid in my stomach so reflux meds won't help me). An endoscopy revealed that I have gastritis also. I feel slimmy stuff in my throat when I spit out my saliva (I have mucous in my stomach but thats how they know I have it and through a special blood test where they can look at your blood under the microscope), my throat hurst (sore throats), I get bloated from air build-up in my stomach and that prevents me from eating my dinner when I can't burp up the air, I feel a lump in my throat and feel the need to burp, you feel pressure in your throat like someone putting their fingers to your throat, I feel like I have mucous in my throat and I have clear my throat. When I swallow, I feel like food gets caught in my throat and I have eat a piece of bread with water to dislodge it. I get a burning feeling in my stomach after I eat raw fruit like an apple. Sometimes I feel a tightening of the muscle in upper stomach and I don't know what causes that. I might drink water and I reflux the water. Right now, I'm on a strict diet where I only drink water all day, 1% milk, decaf tea, and camomile tea. I have to stay away from spices including garlic and onion, citrus, no coffee not even decafeinated, absolutely no fried foods, no tomatoes or tomatoe sauce of any kind, no chocolate, no cabonated drinks, no mayo because that has vinegar in it. I have to eat very bland....I hope it doesn't kill me because sometimes I feel like I'm not getting the necessary vitamins my body needs. I eat everything broiled or cooked over the stove or baked things.
Aside from pernicious anemia (which I think I have had for 9 years before they diagnosed it, a mysterious autoimmune disease, I'm undergoing peri-menopause and have fibromyalgia, so the rheumatologist tells me. When I came in the gastro's doctor's office, she decided to test me for nutrition being that I could hardly eat foods. I was in feel poor shape, feeling an overall weakness, muscle spasms. Sure enough she called me to tell me I was B12 dificient, having a pancreatic attack, and that I had pernicious anemia. Prior to her discovering this, I was treated as a psychiatric patient taking psychiatric medications like Ativan and Haldol and antidepressant (zoloft - only for 1 1/2 years until I weaned myself off of it because I felt restless on it and I could never relax) for 9 years. I am so upset about this. I wonder what the meds did to me long-term?
My symptoms include: Muscle spasms and pain in my spine causing pain on the crown of my head (this pain stays for days, weeks and then goes away), muscle weakness (feels like your muscles are like jello), my left leg buckled on me one time where the muscle just died even though I was telling my brain to move it where I stopped dead in my tracts and I was able to move it again and then it stopped again and then I moved it and that was the end of that episode. Sometimes I get where my muscle in my left upper back by the spine, gives me an inner shoving sensation jerking my body forward....I don't know what causes that. I feel pain in my left leg (the back of the knee) like a vein protrudes (of course I have a lumbar hernia) and the back of knee hurts. I sleep on my right side of my arm and my left fingers go numb (only the 1st 3 fingers starting with the thumb) where I have to shake them to get back the circulation of blood, I sleep on my left arm and shoulder and my right fingers go numb (not all about the first three starting with the thumb). I broke my right colarbone 9 years ago and my wing bone started to fall when an othopedist put me in a sling. My whole shoulder structure started going wacky maybe thats why I have problems with my upper back and upper spine now. I have 2 disks in my neck that have small herniations in them and the 3rd disk has lost height. I get throbbing by the spine where both arms meet the spine sometimes. I feel so weak sometimes that I tell my husband not to talk to me because I feel so week that I can't talk (this will come over me in the car when we would come from eating dinner). I've had an episode where I tried to talk to my father-in-law and I couldn't speak (I had to hand motion to him but he didn't understand what I was saying. When I could speak, what I said was distorted where you couldn't understand it. This lasted for about 15 minutes in the summer. I will talk to my husband and I know what I wanted to say but something else will blurt out. Then I'll tell him, that's not what I wanted to say and correct myself. I get very forgetful...if I don't write things down, I won't remember what I went to the store for ...my mind goes totally blank. I will go to the bathroom and try and push to move my bowels (buy the way which I'm constipated) and I'll start sweating all over my body. It seems like any sign of bodily distress, I start sweating....and I hate that sweating feeling (it feels like a boiler heating up internally and then explodes with sweat). I get shooting pains sometimes in different places of my body. I'll hold the phone to talk to someone for longer than 5 minutes and my thumb goes numb. When I write, my thumb on my right hand goes numb also. My vision I feel goes blurry, I get lights in my eyes that blinds me where I can't see and lasts for 2 minutes or so and goes away. When I went away to Florida 2 years ago, My fingers would swell, I guess from the heat and dampness, I don't know why that happened; I couldn't explain it.
I have a belly button hernia and where I had my gall bladder removed, I have numbness going to the belly button where I have the hernia. The gastro doctor said my bile duct is mildly prominent which means its enlarged twice the size it should normally be. They seem to think I might have a problem with my pancreatic duct which I'm going for an MRI this Friday.
I need a doctor who will troubleshoot to find out what's wrong with me and I don't think that I'll ever get my one wish....is to find one who will do that and help me.
Anyone have any suggestions, I would appreciate the feedback.
Thanks for you help,
hugs to you all |
