I hope this is a serious platform for discussing Centrist issues. I have been reading past message and am very concerned. Some conversations seem "dopey" and spelling is terrible. If this site is to have any credibility, those responding should take the time to be thoughtful, precise, and possess relatively good languge skills. I do not intend this to be exclusionary to those who do not have a good command of the language, just that if we as a party are to be taken seriously, we can't sound like idiots.

Does the Centrist party define Centrism?

visit Evolution vs. creation netscape free boards your response to this question will be noted by numerous science professionals as well as numerous religious fundamentalists who would like to "un"-seperate government and Christianity.

I read your brief platform and agree with most of your word-bite summations of positions. Who decides what these positions are and they consistant with what philosophical theories? Recently the Libertarian Party thought handing out toy guns to children in Harlem in an effort to raise consciousness about the government's ban of such toys (an infringement of our protected rights) met with near fatal consequences. Most would not have blamed the enraged Harlem parents for their near-violent reaction. Clearly the "included middle" as a political force is critical in order for America to navigate through its present numerous dangers. A centrist position should present the "details" it finds lacking in others. A centrist position does not mean moderation in its allegiance to the Constitution or forcefullness and pragmaticism of policy and plans.
The National Security Enhancement Act of 2003, H.R.207, The Total Awareness Project, lack of fast-track deployment of a YAL-1A airborne laser fleet and their naval and land-based counter-parts, Stem-cell, Embryonic-cell and Cloning Bills and Patriot Act all are specific issues requiring specific responses. The sacrifice, risk and effort our world and our nation require of us now demand more than a moderation of will and design. Of course Centrism hardly suggests a lack of zeal but without specific plans the two party system will volley back and forth, instead of reforming and compromising around the greater silent American sentiment of Centrism.
If the Centrist party is an extention of the Libertarian, itself a branch of 20th century Liberalism, I don't consider it Centrist. An example will suffice: America will have to scan all incoming flows of people and material into the US. This is a new intrusion. A centrist position would, therefore, accept the necessities and outline a model that will best preserve our Constitutional liberties. Centrism ought to be about adaptive balances that best preserves centrist principles. What are those principles and what objective solutions have been proposed that most likely will preserve them and the tranquility, freedom and prosperity of our collective
future?
