This post is from a different forum. For more info about the discussion itself go to History Forum.
My name is Yakamoz in this forum.
Here you will find only my posts. For the opposite view refer to the above link.

The subject discussed in these posts is similar to the one in Rums of Byzantium and Anatolian Genes thread below.

      QUOTE(Sculptjim @ Feb 1 2006, 07:09 AM)

"Turkey is only called Turkey because a number of Turkish hordes conquered it and imposed their mname and language on its native cultures. That doesn't mean the people of Turkey are Genetically Turks. Kurds are probably the descendants of a veriety of racial and cultural groups. The most ancient being the Hurrians, Aryans, Medes, Persians, Phrygians, and Armenians. Earliest known associations were the Hurrians and an unnamed Aryan group who together probably developed the Chariot. Jim"

      My reply:

What do you mean that the people of Turkey are genetically not Turks? Is Turkishness a genetic quality so that you can tell one is Turkish by looking at his/her genes? This is nonsense. You may claim that not all of the present inhabitants of Turkey came from Central Asia, but that they are not Turkish genetically simply doesn't make sense unless you can tell which genes represent Turkishness. Turkishness is a cultural quality that emerged in Anatolia, not in Central Asia.
