LMAO...

While employees are getting their pink slips, these City of Ottawa fools are rewarding themselves with another pay raise in the form of a bonus.

Performance bonus when they drove taxpayers to a record 120 million dollar deficit.

"The Republic of Ottawa operates on deceit, intimidation, manipulation and plain corruption"

Up to 10% performance pay hike 'priceless': Union

THE CITY is preparing to hand out about $1.5 million in performance pay increases to 550 managers, a plan that has come under criticism from some councillors and the union that represents city workers. "I'm losing members, the public's losing services and they're talking about bonuses. That's priceless," said CUPE Local 503 president Jim Robillard.

The increases have been reviewed and finalized and range from 0% to 7% for lower-level managers and up to 10% for the six general managers.

About 85% of managers at the city earn between $48,410 and $85,000 and most of the bonuses average in the 3% range, said acting city manager Steve Kanellakos.

The largest bonus a senior general manager could receive is about $16,000 but no one achieved that figure this year.

The funding for the increases was approved by city council in 2002 but the increases come at an awkward time.

The city has recently handed out hundreds of pink slips and is preparing to possibly severely slash services or raise taxes.

Kanellakos defended the move, saying it is simply how managers receive yearly increases.
