Rising costs put city councillors on hot seat again as a 6% tax hike is floated

Sources at City Hall, however, report the number is in the $50-million range, representing a 6% tax increase -- a figure Mayor Bob Chiarelli said last night is more or less accurate.
Coun. Peter Hume said "this is a figure that shouldn't surprise anyone. It's $50 million if it's a dollar."
