| As a regular at the Duke for the past two years or so, I can only say that it's truly disappointing to see it close its doors. The Duke may not have been as trendy as pubs on Elgin St. or in the Market, but there was something about it that those places didn't have. It felt like home. The staff at the Duke are/were the best around, and I'm glad that plenty of them have become good friends.
It's rather unfortunate that the Duke is closing due to circumstances such as the smoking bylaw, which has managed to kill a few good businesses along the way.
I have never smoked a day in my life, but if it were to start all over again, I'd be glad to live with a bit of smoke and the Duke still in business.
Cheers to Ed and the whole gang. Thanks for the memories, the laughs and the good times. It was a great ride.
