saying about not going over the top in the language stakes to poor wine store salespersons - I have been known to wax a little too lyrically at times (ordinarily they just smile wryly and look at me askew

).
I'm definitely a fan of the Turley approach and loved big jammy wines. But, I guess the trick is being as "jammy" as possible (LOL - in the UK "jammy" can also mean "lucky") whilst still retaining that all important balance, and I think that this is where Turley are strong. Haven't tried too many "big" Shirazes, but will bear this one in mind and try to find a bottle, but the likelihood is that, as with nigh on most Californian wines, they ain't gonna be available in Blightly. I think that the closest that I've come to the "ideal" (that I suspect that you are searching for too) is the Howell Mountain, Outpost, that I mentioned in an earlier thread. I conceive that it could have been improved upon, so there is still room for others to seize that coveted title of "Andrew's favourite Turley-esque Zin/Cab/Shiraz etc." (secretly that's the accolade that all the elite wineries really want

).
Andrew.
