there is a distinctive "grand crus californien" style - rich, full, powerful, in your face.
Most of the time, it is too much for me, but when toned down a bit (rock concert = 10, turn it down to 6 and it is bearable in normal contexts) like the Groth, is quite distinctive and enjoyable (certainly not insipid or bland)
