Dear Fellow Horological Foodies -
The December dinner is confirmed for December 12, 02, Thursday, at 8pm.
The restaurant is a cozy little place in the Golden Triangle area of Beverly Hills, and we will have the entire restaurant to ourselves. The wine theme is 1990 Grand Cru Champagne, and we have a great 6 course menu specially planned to match this theme -
1st course: Warm curried Blue Point Oysters w/caviar
2nd course: Gravlax w/citrus, cucumber and basil oil
3rd course: Terrine of assorted winter mushrooms
4th course: Seared Dayboat Scallops w/champagne risotto
5th course: choice of
Roasted Santa Barbara squab au jus
Roasted Sonoma rack of lamb w/Pinot noir sauce
6th course: Raspberry glace gratin
Bring a bottle of wine or champagne if you will be partaking in the for-fun wine face off - the bottle voted best showing of the evening will have their "master's" food cost (one person) comp'd.
I know for sure that there will be at least one bottle each of '90 Crystal, Dom Perignon, and La Grande Dame.
Special participants will include John Davis (ei8htohms) coming in from Seattle; Curtis Thomson (AHCI moderator, watchmaker, and all around good guy) from the east coast; and Mr. David Walter, master clockmaker and highly regarded horological restoration expert, late of Australia and now based in Solvang, who will also be making a short presentation. Someone will be bringing an example of David's work, a very special table clock.
This promises to be a very special, unique evening of fine food, wine, and horological camaraderie. Many/most are bringing spouses/significant others.
Email me if you are interested in attending. Attendance MUST be confirmed in advance, since we are physically limited in the number of people we can accomodate.
