while im a lover of red wine and drinking whatever pleases,

I might suggest, as a long time lover of Indian food, and having prepared it myself for some twenty years-

a Gewurtztraminer or mildly fruity white wine-

not necessarily sweet, but rather to your taste, is a surprisingly wonderful compliment to spicey foods, especially Indian-some sweetness and spiceyness in the wine contrasts and compliment the food
