after some use, you are in effect filtering your water through a toxic slush, and somehow that just can't be a good thing. i have also heard that mold eventually starts to grow in the filter. of course, frequent changing helps with these issues somewhat. i also used to double-filter, but right now i only use one.

but, i cant help but to think about what floats in my water when i drink just as i cant make myself eat non certified organic fruits and vegetables. the thought of added chemicals is just too much.
