Response to I generally double filter tap water

... is that the 'gunk' removed from the tap water has nowhere to go, and collects in the filter.
after some use, you are in effect filtering your water through a toxic slush, and somehow that just can't be a good thing. i have also heard that mold eventually starts to grow in the filter. of course, frequent changing helps with these issues somewhat. i also used to double-filter, but right now i only use one. but, i cant help but to think about what floats in my water when i drink just as i cant make myself eat non certified organic fruits and vegetables. the thought of added chemicals is just too much.

i simply did a google search for links:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reverse_osmosis
http://urila.tripod.com/
http://www.freedrinkingwater.com/infocenter.htm (a site that also sells filters, but there are many others out there.)

so, what i d like to know is: has anyone on this board some personal experience with the use of an RO filter, and may be able to recommend a brand?
