My wife and I are throwing a party where we will be serving hor derves and dessert. Hor derves will include sirloin on toast, shrimp cocktail, baked Brie and rasberry in pastry, among other things, which I've now forgotten (my wife is in charge of the food, I am in charge of the drinks). Dessert will be pecan pie, cheesecake, chocolate mousse, chocolates, strawberries, pineapple and assorted cookies and pastries (funny how I am better able to remember the dessert list).
I was thinking of having Cab, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling and Champagne. I'll serve cordials as well, with dessert.
Do you agree with this selection? If given a budget of under $20 per bottle, what wines would you buy?
