. . . today being Martin Luther King Day in America, of course, nearly everyone has the day off. I figured this would be a perfect day to spend a few hours playing pool with Ming, but unfortunately when we got to Hollywood Billiards, the parking lot was locked. Plan B - off to the Rainbow Bar & Grill on the Sunset Strip! Ming and I arrived in the late afternoon, and we settled on a table in the patio as the weather was perfect and the usual smoking crowd was absent. The Sierra Nevada pale ale was remarkably effervescent and nicely chilled . . . methinks the refrigeration in the bar has been recently upgraded. We ordered the usual appetizers of guacamole with vegetables along with chips and salsa, but I forgot to get my camera from the car until after we'd devoured the guac. The salsa was all that was left by the time Ed showed up . . .

. . . and, as almost everything on the menu, it's made on the premises . . . very fresh, but on the mild side. The chips are freshly prepared, too, and highly recommended as a starter if you're drinking beer; the roasted peppers and a side of avocado along with the freshly baked Italian bread would be the ticket for wine connoisseurs.
