Those are mega-cities; will need to filter down the choices.

Food in Beijing ...

April 16 2012, 3:41 PM

can be quite good, but unfortunately most of the time I am in "private restaurants". Some of my friends/business partners have their own cooks or places to eat.

When do you go, Julian? Maybe I can ask a good friend of mine.

Oliver

was just in Beijing and had Peking Duck, hotpot, and dumplings...

Hello Julian,

I was just in Beijing and had a wonderful time there:

http://timeout.watchprosite.com/show-forumpost/fi-686/pi-5235908/ti-783228/s-0/

We had some really great food (Peking Duck, all kinds of dumplings, beef noodle soup, hotpot, even sushi and udon!) but I don't know the names of the restaurants or the address as everything was in Chinese. The only place that had a English menu was Chef Hung Noodle that is inside a mall near a AP boutique, it's a Taiwan based branch that has really good handmade noodles and xiao long bao.

Maybe you can show the pics to your hotel concierge and they can tell you where this is:

Dumplings-

Peking Duck-

Hope this helps, look forward to your pics of where you went!

Fellow PuristS 'patrickmaniac' posted this from Shanghai:

It's not Chinese cuisine but I'm sure he'll be posting more so check here: (http://timeout.watchprosite.com/?show=forumlist&fi=686 ) frequently prior to your trip.

WFED Moderator's Note:

Another unusual restaurant reviewed by Peter Chong was Muslim Lamb in Beijing; Click http://shiokhochiak.blogspot.co.uk/2011/11/appetite-for-china-muslim-cuisine-in.html
