Taiwanese cuisine is less common in Australia, so on a visit to Malaysia I tried this busy eatery at Jalan Imbi (note that there are several other Fong Lye restaurants and tea houses in KL).

We waited outside in the rain for a table for 45 minutes, which augured well for the quality of the food, as the line of people behind us kept growing.

The ambience is casual and the service was good, although a little rushed. But the food was tasty and we shared an enjoyable meal. Here are some of the highlights ...

Yam

Bean curd with bitter gourd

Stewed beef

Looks like a nice casual meal. Was wondering if the restaurant offered stinky tofu on the menu?

... but we didn't have deep fried stinky tofu. Not sure if it was on the menu, but I didn't notice any stray smells from the kitchen!

I have had stinky tofu in Malaysia and quite enjoyed it. Followed by durian for dessert, of course. wink.gif

You've touched on the Woo 'kryptonite'.........durian. hehehe.

Yesterday, a flight was delayed from take off for an hour in Indonesia because some passengers demanded to be disembarked before the source of a durian smell could be tracked down......seriously....what's the problem with the fragrant smell of the King of Fruits?

Regards,

MTF

Impressive to be able to handle both the stinky tofu followed by durian. Better you than me LOL.
