The Vancouver Giants picked up their 20th road win of the season Friday night and remained in a tie for top spot in the Western Hockey League. In front of just over 3,000 fans, the Giants skated away with a 5-2 victory over the Prince George Cougars.

Garet Hunt led the offense for the Giants scoring a pair of goals, now giving him seven on the season. Jonathon Blum had a power play goal to give him 15 on the year, along with an assist, which turned out to be 100 for his career.

Evander Kane potted home his 22nd of the season while James Wright tallied his 13th of the year. Kane had gone five games without scoring while Wright returned to the line-up after missing 11 games with mono.

Spencer Machacek had an assist in the win. In the process, the Giants captain extends his point-scoring streak to eight straight games (4g,13a)/

Tyson Sexsmith posted his 39th win of the campaign as Jordie Deagle and Greg Gardner were the only Cougars to get pucks behind him.

The Giants wound up out-shooting the Cougars 43-21 on a night which saw Vancouver go 2-for-9 on the power play and 7-for-7 on the penalty kill.

Having won six straight road games, the Giants improve their overall record to an impressive 44-13-2-6. They are now tied with the Tri-City Americans for top spot in the WHL as they prepare to play the Cougars Saturday night at the CN Centre. Game time is 7:00pm PST.
