GIANTS WIN THIRD STRAIGHT
By Morley Scott - November 13, 2009
Vancouver, BC - For the second time this season the Vancouver giants have won three straight games. In front of a season high crowd of 9,836 fans at the Pacific Coliseum, the Giants rolled over the Red Deer Rebels 4-1.
James Henry scored twice for Vancouver, his 8th and 9th goals of the season, giving him 13 points in his last 13 games. Henry’s 2nd goal came in the 2nd period just 19 seconds after Brendan Gallagher had scored. The two quick goals gave the giants a 3-1 lead. J.T. Barnett with his team leading 13th of the season rounded out the scoring for the Giants who sit at the top of the BC Division and the Western Conference standings with a record of 15-6-1-2, for 33 points.
Jamie Tucker got the win in net stopping 22 of 23 shots. Red Deer’s goal was scored on a five on three power play by former Giant Andrej Kudrna. The two man power play for Red Deer was created with back to back delay of game penalties to Tucker. One for freezing the puck, the other for shooting it over the glass.
The Giant’s power play was 2 for 6, while Red Deer went 1 for 8. Vancouver will play its next game on Sunday, a 5:00 pm start at the Pacific Coliseum against the Seattle Thunderbirds. The pre game show on AM 650 starts at 4:30. For ticket information visit vancouvergiants.com or call 604 280 4400
