Giants Beat Prince George 4-3
The Vancouver Giants won their 3rd straight game defeating the Prince George Cougars 4-3. It is the 13th consecutive victory, regular season and playoffs, at the CN Centre.
Vancouver opened the scoring courtesy of Brendan Rowinski, as he potted his 7th of the year. Shortly after though the Giants took a penalty and Brett Connolly scored a pretty goal to even the score at 1-1. Mark Reners would restore the lead before the period was out, banging in a rebound for his 8th of the year. Vancouver led 2-1 through 20 minutes.
The Giants added to their lead early in the 2nd as newcomer Darren Bestland's fluttering point shot fooled James Priestner and found the back of the net to give Vancouver a two goal advantage. Late in the frame the Cougars would claw back; Spencer Asuchak and Sena Acolatse scored 1:34 apart to tie the game at 3-3 after 2 periods of play.
In the third Teal Burns snapped home his 3rd of the year to give the Giants a 4-3 lead. His 7th point in 4 games as a member of the Giants. Mark Segal shut the door the rest of the way, making 22 saves on the night to help Vancouver earn a 4-3 victory. Prince George was 2-for-8 on the power play, while Vancouver was 0-for-2.
These two teams go back at it again tomorrow night at the CN Centre, game time is 7:00pm. Pregame show begins at 6:30pm on AM 650.
