Kyle Beach led the Spokane Chief to a 2-1 win over the Giants Saturday night at the Pacific Coliseum. Beach had an assist in the game and got under the skin of the Giants all night long shutting down a Vancouver comeback. With the loss the 24-14-1-2 Giants are still atop the B.C. Division.
Just 11 seconds into the game Giants captain Lance Bouma set the tone for the night in a scrap off the draw with Beach. Not long after, Giants Brendan Gallagher redirected Kevin Connautonís original shot to give Vancouver the early lead and earn his 24th goal of the season.
However, almost three minutes later the Chiefs tied the score 1-1, Mitch Wahl scored his 15th of the season from Beach. Spokane has scored four goals against the Giants this season, Whal has two of them and set up the other two.
The second period was loaded with post whistle scrums, chippy play and a couple of fights and the game winning goal scored by Jared Spurgeonís wrist shot beating Giants goalie Jamie Tucker.
The Giants werenít without chances after outshooting Spokane 36 to 28 however, with a third period full of penalties and more rough stuff the Giants couldnít put together a comeback, the final score 2-1.
Gallagherís power play goal added to Vancouverís league leading power play goal count of 59, Gallagher is tied for second in the league with 12 power play goals. With the man advantage the Giants went 1 for 4 while the Chiefs went1 for 6.
