I would like to build a wooden canoe, but I don't have any information nor experience. Would anybody, please, recomend some books/sites/videos where i could learn from the zero point ?

Best regards,

Depend what kind of canoe you want to build. For wood canvas canoes the best book is "The Wood and CAnvas Canoe" by Stelmok and Thurlow. For wood/epoxy strip canoes Ted Moores "Canoecraft" is one. There is also one by David Hazen - not sure the title.

Thanks for posting those book suggestions Pam. I was wondering the same thing Allesandro was. I was hoping to start building a canoe this summer in northern WI, but am also a complete novice.

I built a strip canoe using "Building a Strip Canoe" by Gilpatrick. Cost me about $800.00 in material. I had never built a canoe before and had very little woodworking experience. I'll be paddling it again next weekend. I failed miserably at my attempt to build a canvas kayak so no suggestions there. Good luck and don't be scared!
