My 1930's chestnut is rotting into the ground! Especially the outboard gunwales, and the bow and stern decks. Looks like the ants got to it.I need a lumber supplier, please

Hi Jim
Sad news about your canoe. It sounds as if it was left upside down on the ground.
Unfortunately the WCBG has no members in BC. I suggest you go the the web site of the Wooden Canoe Heritage Association (www.wcha.org) and look for a canoe builder near you. He or she should be able to supply the materials you need. Also, have a look at the CANOE CARE page of this web site for tips on how to prevent such damage in the future. Good luck.

I found suitable ash stripes for gunwale repacement at a Minnonite woodworking shop in a small village north of Kitchener Ontario. Half the cost of canoe stores.

Where are you located and what are you looking for? I do several refits and repairs every year. There are gunwales suppliers in BC and obviously many cedar suppliers.
