Idenfify canoe

Hi Anthony,

From the information that you gave it is pretty well impossible to make any specific identification on the make of the canoe. Some things that you could look for that may help are the presence of a decal on either of the decks or a serial number stamped on one of the stems. Is the planking red or white cedar and how thick and wide are the planks? Other things that may help in the identification would be the shape of the decks, the types of wood used for inwales and outwales, the width, shape and spacing of the ribs and the construction of the seats. Another feature to look for is the sheer line - is it fairly flat or does it rise up sharply at the ends of the canoe? If you can get some good pictures of the canoe that may be useful also in allowing someone else to identify it. The possibility may also exist that the canoe was not made by a known builder and it may be impossible to determine who made it. Good luck with your investigation.
