Have just bought an old 16'cedar strip canoe, in fair condition, that I want to restore. It has a thin fiberglass coating.I'm concerned about using strippers that might affect the glue. Any advice appreciated

So is this a woodstrip/epoxy canoe - glass and resin in and out with no ribs. Or an old wood/canvas canoes, ribs inside, that someone has fiberglassed the outside.
The best source for info on wood/canvas canoes is the book by Thurlow and Stelmok called the Wood and Canvas Canoe. "Strippers" are a whole different ball of wax, and yes paint stripper will affect the glass.
