The "Grind" album was mostly Cantrell. It sucked ass. You can even tell from the video of Grind how little Staley was into it.

The Facelift album was their best. There's one song on there (Real thing may have been the name, "....under the hill, with just a few notches on my belt...") that was pure Staley that made it clear what his intentions were for his life, and death.

He did Mad Season without any help from Cantrell and it sounded more like AIC than Grind, even though it was the most mellow album he did, including Jar of Flys and SAP. You can tell when Cantrell was the writer on a song because the lyrics were very shallow. Rooster on Dirt was pure Staley, he wrote it about his father in Veit Nam.

Staley's name is on most of the credits, especially earlier songs, which were the better ones.
