Some of you know my best friend JR Lew from here and The Smokeout. For the last 9 years he has been my Smokeout pal, my best friend and my brother. We have shared many miles all over the backroads of Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina. Shared many bottles of whiskey and smoked great cigars. Spent thousands of hours talking about life, our families and our friendship and of course, motorcycles. On Tuesday evening he decided to take his own life. Alone in a hotel room in West Virginia. His mind was troubled and he saw no other way. I can't express to y'all what a great human being he was. He was a brother to me in every sense of the word and i will miss him beyond measure. He was a retired Ranger in the U.S.Army. He fought for this country and even left an eye in Desert Storm. He had my back, and I his countless times. Whenever we were in a bar he would remind me to stay on his right side cause he couldn't see anything coming from that direction. LOL! He leaves behind a beautiful wife and 2 grown sons. James Ellsworth Lew Jr. has joined his mother and father in heaven. His troubled soul just couldn't take anymore. Mine however, will live on with the memories he left with me. So many good times together. Please keep his family in your prayers and maybe say a little one for me too. I am beyond sad. Lew, i love ya brother and i'm gonna see ya again , but its gonna be a while. I've still got a lot of livin to do! But one day, we'll ride those golden streets together. One day.
