HARDCORE-PUNK. Montreal's AFTER THE BOMBS hugely anticipated 1st full-length. 5 tracks of epic late '80s style crust-metal anthems. Mad at the World's favorite thrash duo return with what appears to be the final chapter in the life of their beloved mascot Tungar, and with "Terminal dawn", he goes down in flames! METALCORE/SCREAMO-HARDCORE. OCEANA's full-length "The tide" is an outstanding display of clever lyrics and mind blowing technical guitars. There is nothing poppy about this release, which is just the way it was intended. With 12 tracks averaging more then 40 min. in length, this is one album that has aimed to please and successfully done so. "The tide" blends metalcore and screamo. The problem with a lot of screamo bands is that the vocals are one-dimensional. That's not the case with OCEANA. While you'll hear plenty of high-pitched emotional yelling, Keith also delves into his lower register with angry growls. With atmospheric guitars and dramatic song writing, OCEANA delivers an amazing debut record. The members of OCEANA are still in their teens and have plenty of room for growth, and they are off to a good start with "The tide".
POOSTEW - Misericordia (2008/MIDNIGHT MANHUNT) 10" 8,50 €

DOOOM/STONER-METAL. Recently it seems the relatively obscure genre of stoner/doom-metal has been creeping into more popular realms. Heavily influenced by BLACK SABBATH, SLEEP and other genre heroes, Austin TX's THE SWORD offer up 9 tracks of long hair and full stacks, taking the new breed of American metal to a new level. This album rocks from beginning to end, with no let up. If your prejudices run towards crushingly heavy doom riffs that dominate all other aspects of the sound mixed with deliciously cheesy lyrics sung in a chanting style, then you will play this album all the time. "Age of winters" is easily the best doom-metal album of the past years and it is absolutely essential for everybody who enjoys the genre, as well as fans of BLACK SABBATH, HIGH ON FIRE and MASTODON. The vinyl version includes download card for mp3's of this album.

HARDCORE-PUNK. Originally released as a BCT tape in 1984, this compilation contains tracks by some of the most important and influential Scandinavian hardcore and punk bands of all time. This features mostly Swedish bands like ANTI CIMEX, MOB 47, EXISTENZ, PRODUCT ASSAR, MODERAT LIKVIDATION, but also AKUTT INNLEGGELSE (Norway) and ENOLA GAY (Denmark) are involved for a total of 30 tracks. The stinkers from the original tapes, either due to sound or song quality have been removed so this blazes all the way through with hardly a bad song. One word: classic!
WARBRINGER - War without end (2008/CENTURY MEDIA) CD 13,- €
THRASH-METAL. Any follower of recent metal trends will have noticed a huge rehashing of the early '80s thrash-metal. L.A.'s WARBRINGER building an impressive underground buzz as one of the premier new-school thrash bands. They allegedly range in age from 17 to 22 years, and march in stride with other young metal militia such as MUNICIPAL WASTE, FUELED BY FIRE or TOXIC HOLOCAUST. WARBRINGER bring their own youthful energy to their sound with sped up drums, lightning fast guitar picking and over the top vocals. "War without end" isn't only fun and nostalgic, but a hugely impressive, geeked-out style-study of the albums that have become the thrash blueprints.

DRONE/DOOM-ROCK. This is the debut album from WICKED KING WICKER. There is quite a buzz with this band in both the drone-doom-metal scene as well as the noise scene. This is as heavy and as dark as it comes. They have been compared to SUNN O))), BORIS, WHITEHOUSE and SKULLFLOWER but to be quite honest the band has a unique approach to it's music and doesn't really sound like any other band out there. But the one thing they share with these bands is their quest for the extreme of creative noise. This vinyl version is limited to 490 copies and pressed on purple vinyl.

EVERY AVENUE - Shh. just go with it (2008/FEARLESS) CD 13,- €
INDIE/POP-PUNK. Michigan's EVERY AVENUE craft their songs in the same way THIRD EYE BLIND would, but sonically they'd appeal to fans of MAYDAY PARADE, THE ALL AMERICAN REJECTS and FALL OUT BOY. The choruses are catchy, the melodies are infectious, and the singing is phenomenal. The band wants to be known as a group that just makes music to have fun. This approach just may be the reason they will be able to find their place in the mess of the pop-punk genre.
KILLING JOKE - Democracy (2008/LET THEM EAT VINYL) DoLPcol 20,50 €
ALTERNATIVE-ROCK/PUNK/INDUSTRIAL. When KILLING JOKE released their self-titled debut in 1980, it was a milestone in the post-punk era. Not only was it darker, uglier and dramatically different from just about any other music emanating from the U.K. at the time, but it managed to strike a chord with both Mohawks and long hairs. KILLING JOKE's mix of heavy and melodic pop hooks fuel "Democracy" into a confused, rather bland set of songs that seem a mix of '80's THE CULT and '90's grunge, never identifying itself as the dark post-punk distinctive Brit sound KILLING JOKE is alleged to be. This is a great record, its just really different from the rest of the band's catalog. But its a unique and interesting record in its own right. Comes in heavy 180gr and colored vinyl!
KILLING JOKE - Pandemonium (2008/LET THEM EAT VINYL) DoLPcol 20,50 €
ALTERNATIVE-ROCK/PUNK/INDUSTRIAL. One the most intense and forward thinking bands to come out of the UK post-punk era, KILLING JOKE have been playing their trade for 27 years. The band has fused punk, metal, industrial, ambient techno, trance, and even pop into a wickedly contagious hybrid that's as cathartic as it is catchy. "Pandemonium" has so much covered here, from excellent rhythms and beats to the outstanding songwriting. This reissue is remastered with a couple bonus tracks and at least one unexpected surprise. This album is essential for any KILLING JOKE fan, or any industrial fan, or anyone interested in genre-fusing music. Its a great record, highly recommended. Comes in heavy 180gr and colored vinyl!
MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS - Variations of swing (2008/DENOVALI) LP 10,- €
POST-HARDCORE. MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS are the latest addition to the growing and highly dominant U.K. post-hardcore scene. MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS is the most successful band to attempt this sound so far in terms of sheer originality. Combining MILLION DEAD's pop sensibility with THE MURDER OF ROSA LUXEMBURG's technical backing, MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS' sound is basically pop songs broken down into 10 sec. burst of energy that are strung together into 3 min. explosions. Basically, MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS is a technically proficient pop-punk group that rides the line between pop-punk and post-hardcore. They are truly an original band and probably one of the most interesting groups coming out of the UK at the current moment.

Think if CRIME didn't have their guitars and "Flowers of romance" by PUBLIC IMAGE LTD got mashed up and only have you begun to get where the direction that TWO DOLLARS OUT THE DOOR take you.
