When the team has enough money, from what company are they looking to buy their basic field sets? Some of them will offer whole-sale prices on cheaper guns like a spyder or f4 illistrator. Some of those guns are still quality items. I had a souped up automag, but I have always prefered the illustrator that I have. It is about 800 dollars cheaper, and a whole lot more reliable. Imagine that.

No matter what company we go through if it be Kingman for the Spyders or someone like that it will most likely be more expenzive than if we go through a vender. Remeber a field set is not only the markers, but you need masks and tanks too. I know of one place where we can get a 10 set of spyder compacts, 9oz co2 and some pretty basic masks for like $1100. Stuff like that is what we will be looking for. Also the new ncpa sponsor should be up and running so we should be able to get some cheaper markers through that and then i know a couple of retailers where if you buy in bulk they will reduce the price for you. So in answer to your post we will just have to wait and see. We are not going to make any move to buy anything other than finding prices till we a couple of meetings and can come up with some options. Also I know for a fact that we will not have the funding to get a field set of illustrators. We just don't have that kind of money yet. So the dilema ends up do we get some lower end but still good stuff to start out with or do we wait and possbly charge more in dues just so we can get some better equip? I guarantee that anyone you talk to that doesn' have their own equip will want the stuff that is good enough to use. Secondly no offense to anyone, but I am not sure I could trust a newbie with a 2-3 hundred dollar gun. Once you get into that price range the chance of someone not knowing what they are doing greatly increases the likelyhood of something being broken. In any case we will see what we can do once I talk to a few people and once I can give all of you an idea of what we are looking at.

I agree with everything you said here. It is very good idea to wait. After a coulple of meetings you will have a much better idea of how many people are interested and will stay interested. If it is more than you expected, you may be able to afford more expensive equipment. However you are correct to be concerned with the fact that you don't want very expensive guns in the hands of people that might not have the experience to keep it working properly. I'm sure people will catch on though. Besides, as was said before, some of the cheaper but decent quality guns seem more reliable on the field (maybe its the fewer moving parts). Newer players may appreciate that. I've never had to strip that Illustrator on the field---I've had to strip an AutoCocker twice. Anyway, it sounds like you have it together.

Question: remember my first few posts about getting on a team for the tourney? It sounded like, from what ian was saying, that my name is on someone's roster. Where can I view this roster?

The team rosters are all posted over under the "Reserve your team's spot here" post. All teams please put your roster there. Also any previous or already announced rosters will also be over there.

Thanks,
Brad
