When will we know what kind of funding we will get from the SGA? Also when will we actually get the money? I have talked with BD and Chris Raehl and if we can give him around the same amount as he gets on a regular rec day we can get reduced prices on paint and air and that kind of thing. Since this is about a month away it would be great to know exactly how much we can expect to have to spend on this kind of thing. I don't want to sound greedy but it would just be a big help to know that kind of stuff.
Well, I just talked with the ASA office, and Joan said that since we missed the process (the club didn't form till after it was over) last year, we automatically get money from the vending machine profits, which is very good. Bad news is that it will only be 100-150$. She said she hopes it will go out the first week in September, but when exactly is dependent on when the Business Office sends it to her.
Money from SGA is an entirely seperate possibility. SGA will give money for specific projects to clubs in good standing (their rep has good attendance). Usually the projects that get this "SOAP" money (student organization something something) are representing the college at a conference or tournament or such, (not playing for their pleasure). So the best time to get that money is if we compete in a tournament against other schools. The max SOAP funds a club can get is $1000 right now; when the new constitution is ratified, it will be $750. Also, when applying for SOAP funds, you have to provide an itemized expense list and proof that you don't have enough money yourself.
So basically, I thought there'd be more money from VMP, but it looks like we're gonna be on our own at least at first. Bake sale anyone???
We were planning on using some of the money to help with the costs of everyone playing and to help get the team to nationals but I guess we will have to wait on that one. If anyone else has some pull in SGA or if there is anyone with any ideas about how to get more money whether it be from the school in fundraisers or from any outside sources it would be much appreciated.
